I would say stock parts, made a bracket and put on a 250r shock. If it worked out and didn't cause problems with the driveshaft, I will do the same for my extended swingarm 250sx. I was about to make a shock mount for the stock shock (where it was originally, due to my extended swingarm) but then I saw this.

Picked up a trx250 quad for $75, took the driveshaft and swingarm. Direct fit it seems, just need to make a shock mount so the lower shock mount isn't back 2.75"...that would make the rear sit low. I am putting a 350x front end on, don't want it to look like a chopper so I was going to make the shock mount where it would normally, with a bracket. But this looks like the same amount of work for a much better suspension setup.

Also have a 300cc engine, 4 valve head setup on it. But need to replaced one way bearing, it's now over $100 at most places....that part was $60 for 25 years......

That 250sx is owned by Hurricane635 on the forum here, it is a extended swingarm using a TRX shaft. It is a linked shock as well. IIRC he is working out of town until after the holidays. He is the guy that does the 96mm 350X piston as well.

I am using the same TRX parts, and I assume it's an 85/86 250r shock. Assuming he's used it for awhile and it hasn't had problems, I'll likely do the same.

Looks like a reinforced 85 swinger.

I bet the shock helps but the SX simply has no way to mount a shock on an angle. Many things in the way..... But, I guess straight up and down valved properly works??.......

Thanks for the complements, here is some info. Yes it does have a 200x front end, it has a 350x rear shock, re-valved, re-sprung, and a crf 450 pro link. We clearanced the u-joint so we don't have any binding in the drive shaft with the added travel.

Think an 85/86 250R shock would work? If not I have a 350x spare setup, but not sure on the cost of revalving it. Also going ot be using the same TRX250 driveshaft and swingarm.

Hey Shady, a 250r shock with stock spring might be too stiff, I ended up with a 200# sporing from eibach, and revalved it myself through trial and error. Not recommended, IT SUCKED. But keep in mind I weigh about 130 and I'm old, I wanted a cushy ride.

Not faster just stronger. Swap in the 250 output shaft, I'm sure there's a thread on it here somewhere.
