What do you think of the "custom" work for the shock mount on the top of the frame?
Thanks

The swing arm extension itself looks fine. Maybe a bit heavy, but as long as there aren't any cracks it should be OK.

You didn't really post any good pics of the top shock mount so I really can't comment on that.

In pic 2 above there is a crack, possibly rust hole. I guess I'm concerned about a replacement because it is extended.

Looks heavy! I would sandblast it first. It will show any weak/thin sports real quick, then take it to a good welding shop, and have them run a nice little tig weld down that crack... It wouldnt scare me...

It all seems like sound advice to me. Most members on here have had to deal with the "good intentions" of previous owners! LOL It doesn't look all that bad. Beef up those upper shock mount welds, blast and paint the frame. Put it all together and have fun. Keep an eye on those modded areas and wear your helmet. If you are really that worried about the frame, find yourself another unmodded frame and fix that one up really nice and transfer your parts over. My Tiger 500 was turned into a quad at one time by a previous owner. The person I bought the Tiger 500 from, turned it back into a 3 wheeler, but it will never be 100% stock or absolutely correct again. It's still a great rider, which is what I wanted in the first place.

I don't believe you. I'm gonna have to take it for a rip just to confirm.

Fabio, You are always welcome. Heck, so is anyone else for that matter. I've never turned anyone down for a ride on the Tigers.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't too worried, just haven't seen too many of the early R's stripped down. Guess it just looked kinda weird to me. I have a motor and am looking forward to restoring this bad boy.
