so today i was working on the two scramblers i have and holy cow i realized how crappy luck ive had with these things, when i bought the roller with a tranny in it i was told it had a different engine in it, a snowmobile one, i persumed the seller didnt know they came stock with one and let it slide.....upon further inspection between my 2 machines the roller(a 85 model) had a plate welded for a lawn mower engine  well my 86 had some problems too like the tranny which had a broken or close to tranny (shifted, but very hard), also the shift lever had a bird poop weld so it didnt fit right, and somehow whoever owned it before me welded a pile of metal right by the front sprocket. so one of the teeth chipped on it, so now im going to have to swap swing arms and a tranny. not to mention it takes 15 mins to take bolts off since most are rusted on so bad or turn right in place ... anyways these things have been a real pain, i cant believe both scramblers i picked up have been welded. especially the plate, whoever welded the plate in there did a AMAZING job i must say, i thought it was stock for a 85 so i was confused looking at my 86 which had rubber hockey puck design mounts, but upon further inspection and putting two and two together about a different engine i realized that the plate was welded. anyways just had to rant but i mean buying 25-30 year old machines what do you expect?
