I got a yamaha tri-moto 125 for free. Is it an ok three wheeler to start out on? Should I fix it up any?

You can't find any performace parts for them except for reeds, and if you get lucky on ebay you can find a exhaust and DG head.
You got it for free so I would say keep it, until you something better.
They got a oil tank for the 2 stroke oil if you didn't know that, not premix.
They got no suspension so it'll be a rough ride.

The price was right! Thats what I started on, but in all honestly, the are probably one of the most difficult to learn to ride. They tip easy, flip easy, and are quite the rough ride, and teh brakes are horrible, but they are a blast once you get used to it. Dont let its mild looks, and small motor fool you. Wear every piece of safety gear you can muster. I nicknamed mine "The Death Trap".
