I am starting to get my 86 200x ready for ice racing.Already have the 18" rear tires already.Probally going to run a Duro 22" on the front. The question I have is how low should the machine sit.

ummm wrong....... a 200x can be lowered pretty low... the head pipe doesn't go past the frame , like on a 2 stroke or a 350x,,, like andy ate through his 350x .. last year LMAO...

or the headpipe! lol...I can tell you how low a 350x can go. I have been to the bottom brother......too low cost money. Just make sure you don't pull a wheelie for the crowd and slam the front down.....never figured that into my engineering specs. John and Bryan.... still gonna slam it down again this year. Gotta remember "No wheelies":D

Lower triple clamps. remove top fork springs, flip rear shock bone and or run shock adjuster all the way to the shock top. Thats what I did on my 350. Also ran a set of 18's in the rear http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/th_P1030013.jpg (http://s388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/?action=view&current=P1030013.jpg)

Wish I had a dogbone to flip.Probally will swap out shocks. On the front will be a 22" tire and slide the forks up.Gives me a excuse to finally change the seals.Hey Crazyman70 how does that 350x handle?I can see the headerpipe is in real danger now.

Handles great that low. I raced it at Icefest 2 days and Indoor arena race in Jamestown. The header is not a real danger if you lower just the triples. When you remove the upper fork spring though......gets a little into the danger zone of the header. It would have been alright had I not grabbed a few crowd wheelies and slammed it down.....wondered why it started backfiring in the arena race?? lol Huge difference in handling....seriuosly. Just try to keep it fairly level. To give you an idea of how low it was.....check out the beercan under the skidplate.:naughty: barely fits under the bike.
