I'm by no means a hill climber so I'll ask this question like a newb..
The trike in this video seems to have the advantage over the quads which seemed to get hung up..
Are the trikes better hill-climbing machines or was this trike rider just more experienced??

I'll chirp in ! I have not had time to ride my last 10 years. Used to LIVE in the saddle. Some 50,000 + miles on sleds, and ATV's,,conservatively ! So,,I am rusty. When I do ride now,,it's on those filthy 4 wheeled things :( Usually a Can AM 800,,700XX, Rincon etc.. NICE,BIG capable quads. On the hills I used to live on with 3 wheelers,,{ I used to build oval tracks on hills you can barely stand up on ;) } I bail on the big quads? I hit a perfectly straight hillclimb,2 dips,,no lips though,,on a Rincon,,and I panincked, jumped off, grabbed the fr brakes and saved it. This was a cpl years ago. I of course,,regrouped and hit it much more serious.. Then Rammed it with the Can Am. But,,for me,,it is far easier to climb on 3 ? I feel this makes NO sense!? The weight is there to keep the fr end down on a quad, the wheels are pulling,on a 4x4. But,,give me my Big Red,and I will climb it ! Now,,I'll watch the video! Thanx for sharing Billy.

I'd say everyone in these videos are very experienced riders. Matt (On the white YFZ450) has been riding this particular area for probably 15 years. The stock length quads have a disadvantage as far as length. They have to rely on momentum more to make the hills, but as they increase momentum the suspension bounces and more travel is used, thats why you see the YFZ's kind of going everywhere. They are hitting the bottom and the other bumps with so much speed and force their basically bouncing off of them. The extended bikes can basically just roll over those same areas and not have that trouble. The trikes (and my 250R in particular because I have a short-track kit too) have the advantage of being able to turn tighter and quicker in and around the trails, and the lighter weight factor. Thats about where it stops. I won't say there is stuff that is stuff the quads can climb I can't, but the quads certainly have an easier time with it. I have to be pretty careful picking and choosing lines. Biggest thing I've learned riding here is to not fight the trike so much, and to sort of just let it wobble and go where it wants and just do corrective steering vs trying to completely man handle it all the time.
30 min video with commentary is rendering now, might be done and finished uploading by tomorrow night? we'll see.

Very diplomatic..I understand now.
From watching the video, some would say the triker OWNED this hill!!
A few more days on that hill and you guys will have that hill carved down to a small bump..

Well I also have a 10 over swingarm, 10 paddle skat-trak hauler tires, and some *very* tuned suspension on my bike. The suspension makes a huge difference, in a few of the scenes watch how much its actually soaking the bumps up vs bouncing off of them.

I noticed that..the quad guys look like they are fighting their machines as much as the hill. Makes it look like your trike finds it easy to scale the wall!!
Nice setup..not exactly for me and my type of riding, but nice just the same.

Took all day to upload this one. A little bit different, no music, just normal audio and some commentary. Let me know if you guys like it.

I love the one with the comentary, Billy, you need to do a trikefest video just like this only with more than just one person doing comentary, different trikefest perspectives if you will.

Yeah, I kinda like the commentary one as well. I need some more cameras to get in peoples face and make them talk too. That would be great for TF for sure.

Loved the video with no music, Sorta can't stand them with the music, I love hearing the ROAR!!!
Anyway, I agree looked like the trike Owned The Hills. I would maybe try it if i had a 2 stroke, But a 4 Naw Not for me.
Great video!!!

I also prefer the video without music because I prefer to hear the engines sounds.
I think the commentary is also a good option, but unfortunately my English is not good enough to understand them...
