Ok I have spent many days wondering about making a boost bottle from just deleting the oil pump, drilling the pump gear shaft out to a good size for maximum effiency. And finally epoxying the oil pump plastic cover to get the right CC's "bottle" if need be but perhaps the stock cover sizer is fine the way it is
But its almost less of a bottle and more of a crankcase volume increase. Im not sure how the two theories mate exactly. But i thought it would be sweet because yamaha put it there and it doesn't get used but the IT175 have an external boost bottle and the stock oil pump. So I want to remove the stock oil pump and use it as the boost bootle. Maybe yamaha thaought of that allready. im going to try and crunch some numbers to prove myself wrong but.... Any one else? :D
Tell me tell me tell me what you are thinking right now but please hold the boost bottles suck theories and lets stick to available Facts

Ha ha! I'm sorry, but my guess is you're not going to get a lot of supporters. From everything I know two-stroke, boost bottles don't do a thing. I am in no way the authority, but it just seems to be the general consensus.

As a previous and current owner and builder of several Tri-Z and Banshee's I will tell you this.
Banshee...Boost Bottles suck. They look pretty all polished up, but so does a truckstop whore, but I still wouldnt mount one.
The Tri-Z.They actually help with the midrange hit. They make it a little more punchy down low.
Performance wise on either machine, I dont feel they add any power.

Makes sense the banshee has one large mother of a crankcase with 66by50 pistons. Stuffing the case would be better idea/ of course it won't work!
Midrange on a TRI-Z? Sounds amazing LOL
So With this in mind I can make the midrange have more pop without "detuning" the top end with limiting factors like timing and porting and pipes.
Sounds to me like the crankcase volume is rather low in the stock engine to begin with. So there for, if you want a peakier high rpm hit/ stock volume is the way to go. Or if you wanted better power output at say 3-4 thousand RPM, then an increase in crankcase volume could be a simple way to do it.
I guess what im concerned with now is am i making a boost bottle or just increasing the Crankcase volume.
Im going to look into it more! i will be trying this because if i don't like it , all i have to do is put block off plate over the oil pump shaft hole, like the vito pump delete kit.

So it seems a boost bottle is only a poor mans fix for pathetic reeds. Thats why it was used more in the seventies and eighties when reeds were in there infancy. Thats the Whole story nothing more. Like putting a band aid on a broken arm. I don't know why it took me to come along and have to explain it. 500 people giving opinions on the subject on the net. No one had it right! Reminds me of the Honda forums :wondering
So this leaves me crankcase volume effieciency based on RPM. Any comments? :naughty: Yt owners?
