Whats the rule for sprockets. I am looking to make the trike more trail friendly. I like to make each gear longer. So if I go smaller in the back and bigger in the front this is the way togo. For guys that have changed there sprockets on there R's what choices did you do. I am not looking to go faster just want it more trail friendly

Thanks Jim

For trails, going bigger in the back is a NO NO..
For one, you lose ground clearance, and for 2, rear sprockets cost more money to buy.
I guess it depends on what trails you ride..Smooth logging trails, I consider roads..But rocky, rutted tight stuff, I consider trails and IMO you want as much ground clearance and bottom mid torque you can get.
In which case, dropping down your front sprocket a tooth, will make a big differance on bottom end torque.

For me, I run some of the knarliest, tightest, rockiest trails around, on stock gearing on 250R's..I even drag race with the stock sprockets and MX race too.
They work great all around for me.
