A friend of mine gave me this carb for getting rid of some stuff for him (parts lot) which he is hard to get ahold of with his schedule and mine are opposite. But anyhow I am wondering if anyone runs one of these and how they perform. I googled it and got some info but seems to be cross refferancing it with the TM series, or is this a TM series? Its a Mikuni and on the side it is stampped T38 over a 85A and under that is T8 over a 41. I would assume its a 38 mm carb but I measured it and got 40mm. Some of the things that came up when I googled it was the 40 mm carb. Either way, just wanted advise on it on how it performs and if there is any know issues with these! Here are a few pics of it to help out!1354221354231354241354251354261354271354281354 29135430

Mikuni TM Pro Series sold in 39mm or 41mm sizes. The largest Mikuni TM flatslide carb was a 38mm.

"The Mikuni TM PRO series flat slide high performance carburetors provide good improvements in flow and power output over the TM series of carburetors. Along with the standard features of the TM series, the TM PRO series features a hand machined venturi area for higher gains in flow and velocities. Comprehensive testing proves the TM PRO series outflows many other mass produced carburetors by a minimum of 10% or more. Because the hand ported venturi allows higher intake velocities at lower RPM's you see superior gains in torque and this results in a smoother and wider powerband. Available in sizes ranging from 24mm to 40mm they cover a wide variety of engine configurations."

I've been using a Klemm Research bored 38mm Mikuni TM carb that was bored out to 41mm on my 84 Tecate since 1986 with absolutely no problems whatsoever. I've used it on another KX cylindered, Motoplat Tecate I was trying to get running, and it started right up. If you need jetting numbers to go from the Jimmy White Replica manual has jetting for a 38mm TM carb for the KX cylindered Tecate.

Thanks dcreel, I was hoping someone would be able to tell me something about it! I will look up the jetting on it where you said and am sure it will need it. I read that they are kinda tricky to dial in but well worth it. With the info you gave me this should get me really close. Thanks! Anyone else run these????

Thanks Iceracer!! Have you had any problems at all with it and did you notice a difference in performance and what kind of carb did you use before?
