This thread is kind self serving, so I apologize in advance. But it may drive some additional traffic here over the next week or so. As well as be interesting to the general masses I suppose.....
Anyway here's a scan of the '86 ATC 250R Set up instruction manual. (an NOS original/ not a reissued copy)
In about 6 hours this will make (sadly) more sense.....

Well thank you for sharing this with us. If what I suspect is happening is actually happening, please at least take plenty quality photos first.

Whew! Thought you lost your marbles for a second Andy .. cheers bro and good luck in the sale. I will reiterate my eBay selling experience with high dollar R's. . The serious buyer will contact you to buy it before the auction ends. Pick a $ that you are willing to sell it for and add 25% then sell it before the auction ends. Only non paying bidders will run it up at the end and back out as they did before, then the price will plummet.
Now excuse me, I need to go on eBay and bid on a bike.

Are we taking guesses for the actual sale price?
Put me down for $22k

Sorry times are forcing you to sell it. Seems like most of us have scaled back our toys significantly. It will hurt to sell it but you will feel good about helping the family out. Besides, what good is it to have an R and not be able to ride it.....EVER?

After reading the auction I think Andy is going to crash our server. Haha

Sorry about the confusion guys. I have had 8 hrs of sleep since Friday morning. Stayed up all night trying different things. My digital infrastructure is on the fritz or just plain old and out of date (PC, Smart Phone, Camera). My pictures turned out less than stellar and video went way bad. The long hours due to a sloooow grinding hard drive is enough to sell a bike alone. We need a few updated necessities around here.
The set up manual should hopefully show that the crated R is all there and is the real deal. I wish eBay would allow the use of links , but it seems as of October that is not allowed anymore.... I'll figure out how to get some links in somehow.

I sincerely hope that it goes to a serious collector!

Museum piece that should be displayed under a glass coffee table.

Can we get the 'scanned' set-up manual on the oscar-mayer site???

Just my 2 cents...

I'm concerned about the "Local pickup only" statement.

This must be an EBAY thing; If someone cares enough to read the "will ship worldwide", they'll get it.

I'm just not sure why the auction was written in that format?

Well I posted it in the Facebook Honda ATC group and people are talking over there, 1 guy says he is even the high bidder currently.

Everyone I tell is having a really hard time finding the auction because they are looking in powersports not in the 11,589 parts and accessories for the 250R. I think the auction would have been better served in powersports.
Any reason for listing it in parts other than the fact it is not assembled ?

I do not have a scanner but I will try to get these scanned sometime. Full of usefull information sticker placement ect, however I have noticed that some of the pictures are generic, alot of the 86 R pictures are really an 85.135527

Yes^^^
For sure! I've even seen some odd prototype TRX 250R pics in other Honda literature. (service manuals/brochures). Not exactly 100% accurate photography... Darn nice collection of set ups there!

I think the auction would have been better served in powersports.

Might be inclined to agree at this point...
If I were to end it and relist, I'd be ridiculed, so I guess it's my loss.... ???

Hope my "other auction" helps.... Kinda weird, but maybe better than just ending it all together.

So the other auction is for a tomy?

Buster Brown

So the other auction is for a tomy?

Yes, and should be generally ignored. I'm simply hoping for a little cross traffic from the Powersports listing.
I want to see this through till the end and not alienate the current bidding crowd by starting everything over again.
I'd rather keep my integrity and clear conscience even at a possible financial loss. Keep'n my fingers crossed ebay doesn't pull the plug. If the other listing spooks a bidder, than I hope they can at least pick up the phone and call with their concerns. If not, Oh well... Guess they didn't want it bad enough. Hope you all can understand, I made a simple marketing blunder.

Man I remember when this was on ebay last time. I was thinking I had a shot at it (LOL). That is truly a piece of american history. I'd hope a motorsports museum or some party like that would buy it to display. But of course, if it were mine, I would probably sell it to the highest bidder. I really like the idea of someone putting a plexiglass case around it so you can see all of the parts. Good luck with the sale!

Thanks guys. It's kind of funny for me. I'm not a salesman by trade (obviously), and @ss kissing is not my forte'.
When talking with each person on the phone, I kinda feel like it's an interview of sorts. If I like the person's demeanor and attitude I share more and hope for them to win the bidding. Some of the ignorant types with their "know it all" attitude are such a turn off. I tend to be a little short. Maybe this is like talking with a future son in law or something... I only want the best for my girl. :)
I hope whom ever gets the buying rites is a cool cat and down to earth.... AND will still share it in all it's crated beauty.
Not too much longer...........
