Tonight I had my buddy come over who is more acustomed to points than I am. Together we got the little booger started. Has great spark, runs strong, and shifts great too. So here we are......the tear down. My phone is only letting me load one pic right now so here is the bare frame. This weekend it will hopefully be blasted and painted. 135128

cool. i'm just geting started on a 70 i picked up a couple weeks ago. it will probably be a slow process though, mine needs a LOT of love. and a recoil of course. seems to be an epidemic with these little critters.

Well never got the chance to paint the frame, however I did get a couple parts painted. Like I said before instead of black paint im going with black Rustolium bed liner that I have left over from my Jeep. I dont know what it is, but sometimes my phone will upload pics and sometimes not. Apparently this is a NOT evening. Ill try to get to a PC sometime to post some pics up. My parts should be here by tue end of the week. I cant wait.

jfaulkner02

lol, yeah. I not only wanted to use it because I had it laying around, but for the durability. I figure paint not only the parts that I wanted black, but the ones with the most chance of rusting. I wanted to make sure it will last through my son, then my daughter when she gets older then possibly a daddy toy later. hehe

135872 Well got a bunch of parts sand blasted and painted (lined). Parts such as, tank, seat bracket, brake drum, chain cover, grab bar, etc all coated. Last night we got the engine in, part of the rearend, new throttle cable, cleaned carb, and fired it up. She runs and sounds pretty good. I tried uploading a pic of it how it sits now, but for some reason it wont on my phone. Tonight ill be installing the new brake shoes.

Got some parts painted, some polished, and some installed. In the pics we have the front end painted and installed and the rear fenders mocked up to see how it will look. Almost finished then to order my gasket kit for the z to see how she goes.

So as a look at the 70 I cant help but think about painting some graphics or stripes on the lil booger. Not quite sure yet, but hopefully this thing will be done pretty soon.

So I put soke gas in the tank finally and took her for a stroll to make sure everything was working fine one last time. Besides needing to clean the carb real good it shifts and runs great and doesnt smoke. Im real happy with it. Now time to get her finished.

That will be a great gift for your son. I picked up a really clean 85 atc70 last year. Then hooked my good friend up with it. He wanted to give it to his son for xmas. You will have to post up a pick when he gets the trike.

First off, thanks for the compliments. To answer the questions, my son is 5, the new seat pan came from dratv.com for 40 bucks (they have alot of new 70 parts) and I will definately post some pics up here after he "opens it up." This lil thing is so easy and quick to work with, I wish I had several more. They are alot of fun especially if its for someone like my lil boy who always puts a smile on my face and is just awesome. He will most definately have a ear to ear grin. Thanks once again everyone.

Well after a couple speed bumps, I got the 70 finished. Its needs a bath before xmas morning, but I "needed" (lol) to take it for a spin to check everything out. My neighbors got a kick out of me riding this thing around our apartment complex, lol. Everything works great, no smoke, plenty of power, brakes adjusted, and carb set correct. Tye only thing left is the grips. I figured that I would let my son help with the finishing touches with it. http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/900/imag0449n.jpg

Luckily I fixed the carb issue just minutes before gift opening time. He opened his grips (to help dad install them) and threw his helmet on. His trusty steed was sitting outside under a large bag. Once he had seen it, he says, "thats my new 3 wheeler!" I was just as excited as he was for him to start riding with me. He hopped on and I started to get nervous as I explained everything to him and started it up. Following him like a cat on a mouse, he rode well. Once we entered into the front yard he rode parallel with the fronch porch not seeing the large rock. He hits it with the left tire making the trike start to roll over. I quickly grabbed the trike and helped him out. Needless to say, he was done for a while, but wants to ride tomorrow. http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/6337/imag0516x.jpg I have video of all this, but not sure how to upload it.

You'll be ready for that 88cc kit soon enough! LOL What did you end up doing to fix the carb? Glad he likes the trike, but then, what kid wouldn't . LOL

Lol, I used Gorilla Glue Epoxy to fix it. It still tends to leak gas from the bowl, but runs fine.
