Big red 250; swap engine for 300 or build up 250?

I plan to mildly lift a 250 big red for mudding but i really want to build up the engine so it ran pull larger tired without running out of steam. I know a 300 fourtrax engine will bolt in but can i accomplish the same result with the stock engine? I see its much easier to find parts for the 300 series so that does seem to lend itself to the swap. What do you guys think? Thanks for any and all input

Once upon a time there was a 300 big bore kit for the 250ES..

New piston, rings, cylinder and gaskets..I went looking for one a few months back, thought not a serious search.

Maybe one of the other guys might cut in and say if these kits still exsist and where they can be found.

I might try the same just for kicks on my BR.

Also, there is a thread in here on a couple easy lift kits that you could fab up. Don't go too high though..probably wouldn't do the flex driveshaft much good to increase the height.
