The steering stop on the frame of my first gen 250R split open on the right hand side. Anyone have any tips or advice on a repair? All i can think of is to weld the he!! out of it.

Would a steering stabilizer help prevent this from happening again? Any suggestions one which stabilizers to use? Installation?

Thanks in advance.

tap it back, strip the paint, and weld it. kinda a no brainer. stabilizer wont help much. Its 25+ years old weld it and get another 25

Is it a repair I could do with a stick welder or should I trying to find something smaller like a MIG welder? At the moment all I have is an old buzz box.

Unless you're a good welder I wouldn't try it, I'd use a mig. It can be done with a stick but it takes someone who know what there doing.

I would tig weld it. could be done carefully with a mig. I wouldnt even attempt to stick weld it

mig minimum but in that tight area, I'd take it to a tig welding palce. that woudl ensure it gets done right and

Did a practice run on some light steal, so now I KNOW i can't do it. Checked with a local guy, he'll take a look to see if he can TIG weld it. He said MIG might create too much splatter. Still looking into other ideas for preventing this from happening again. Maybe I'm just paranoid.
