I'm thinking of putting a 26x11-12 tire on the modified BigWheel 350 studded snowbike.

Does anyone have any experience with fitting one on a Tri-Z?

I have a 25" on the front of the BigWheel now. I like the 25 but was thinking that I could get a little more flotation in the snow out of a 26" tire. That might save me a trip or two over the handlebars when it gets soft.

I was just wondering if there was enough clearance between the tire and the fender to fit the 26" without rubbing.

You could compress your suspension with a ratchet strap and measure, but that doesnt really show actual riding conditions. Just a thought.:beer

I've been watching Enduro Alaska videos for years on another site. They are always great fun, and absolutely love the commentary... You guys are great entertainmant and ride some spectacular places. Ever thought of adding a purpose built 2 stroke 3wheeler to the mix?

Mr Big Wheel,

I have never seen you post anything about trikes, yet your videos are the best, the best, I have ever seen. Nothing makes me smile like your snide, under-handed commentary. I'm not sure how you ended up in a trike forum, but I thank god you did end up here.

Please keep 'em coming!

Being effectively frugal (cheap), I was hoping to find out if the 26" rubber would fit without actually spending any dough. I run rally studs with carbides that will shred anything that they touch, especially $100 front fenders. They make the effective diameter of the tire even larger, so it is even more critical when going with a larger size tire.

Thanks to everybody for spending your precious time watching some of the biggest idiots from the largest state. Fabio, the BigWheel is essentially a 3-wheeler with two wheels that falls over when you stop. 3WW is home for me. Somehow, I fit in.

Tecat-z, while the purpose built two-stroke sounds alluring, the old man in me says, "Run for your life!" I will will admit that the most awesome display of riding I've ever seen was on a really well preserved BigRed. Before i die, I simply must have one of them. They are slow, but so are my mental processes.

That was GREAT. You should get a job with the Discovery Channel!

PS. Tell your EXC buddy I can relate to the three screwdriver thing, those KTM mounts are a mother.

El Camexican,

You are the only one thus far to have any idea what the three screwdriver thing was all about.

You must have achieved a Master Mechanic level similar to H6llyw66d.

you shouldn't have any issues ,,, you don't have the Z pipe to worry about.. fender was never a issue ... only if jumping as the Z fender would flex more than BW,, and rub the studs in the rear of the fender!,, I've has a few Bw's over the years ... ...Love the vid !! I think you will like it better. less Gyro effect..

LOL! Please send him this link, it was a basket case a few months earlier and is how I know his screwdriver pain (Actualy I'm more of a drift and hammer guy myself). Also tell him to try a Canadian beer can as a heat sheild next time, I think they are thicker. Be cool, but stay warm, I hope that storm is nowhere near you, guys.

El Camexican,

That thing is sweet! I never would have guessed that it was a 2002. That looks like a magazine project bike. It has everything the aftermarket ever made for a KTM.

The fender bag looks like it would be right at home on a BigWheel though.

Thank you Sir! Jeff Slavens who rebuilt the suspension posted it on his site (so I've been told) and a few ebay sellers have asked for close ups of their parts installed to use as well. If your buddy wants any close-ups of it in pre-use condition just PM me. Now if only I could learn to make videos like you, I'd be a happy camper. What program do you use? I have "Movie Maker" and all I can do is cut, I've never figured out how to paste, or add vocals or music (I'm much better with wrenches that computers) You have real talent my friend, or as they say in Spanish "Tienes el Don", and I as well as many others on here hope to see more of it some day.

PS. I need that ugly front fender bag as the rear rack ends up carrying about 12 pounds of oil and gear when I do an overnight trip. It made me cring to put that duct tape over my shiny fender, but you have to admit, having duct tape on your vehical does give it that special something that catches peoples attention.

El Camexican,

The editing program is iMovie, which comes with the software package on any Mac computer. It is nowhere close to the capability of programs like Final Cut, but it is fairly intuitive and easy to use.

Those are some really good qualities for someone like me since I have an aversion to reading the operators manual for anything. I don't know if I would ever figure out how to operate Final Cut and would probably just give up. Then what would I do with all of my spare time?

Thanks for all that info. Maybe someday I'll figure out how to make great documentaries like you.
PS. I sent your link out to a bunch of my biker/substance abusing buddies; they all loved it!

El Camexican,

I'm glad your gang enjoyed the video.

Hopefully they will take something from it , mend their ways and walk the straight and narrow just like us.

I'd still be interested in hearing from anyone who has run a 26'" tire on the front of a Tri Z. Anyone? Anybody? Mueller?

Mr. BigWheel

Success!

Just to answer the question that I asked at the beginning of this thread, yes you can fit a 26 inch tire onto a tri-z front end.

This is a Goodyear Rawhide ATT 26x9 - 12.

It fits with the springs removed and the shocks compressed. The second picture is the 26 incher compared to a Goodyear Rawhide ATT 25x12 -9.

I can't wait to try it.

H.A.T.C.F.,

Bailing wire is a little rich for our blood. Besides, Costco doesn't stock the stuff. Where are we supposed to get something so exotic?

Good video, awesome narration and I really like how that plane got airborne in about a 13 foot take off.
I am also reminded of how my GFs uncles "new truck" somehow got morphed into a kitchen remodel...He mentions it often out of ear shot of the missus as he yet to get his needed new truck.

Make sure to invite H6llyw66d over for the installation and to film it... as well as the subsequent trailside repair :)

My most recent regret is not getting any video of H6llyw66d's snowmachine parked in the middle of the trail, with the cowling off replacing a blown belt that had been sending signals of failure for over a hundred miles.

I actually cried. It was the opportunity of a lifetime. Alas.
