So i was at a junkyard the other day hunting parts for my truck, and i see what i thought was a 125m with no elec start, so then i figured it was a 110, then i looked harder and it's actually a 70-71 US90 ! before they even called them an ATC90 i guess.
It has 125m forks/handle bars and brake, and a 125m carbruetor also. The axle has been homemade widened to about the perfect width-
Believe it or not I took it up to my buddie's and he got it running after cleaning the points, and it actually runs GREAT it just smokes a little. 3rd gear is gone but 1-2-4 are all there, clutch does not slip, i can't believe it!
If you want to see a video of it's first start and riding it around, It's on my buddie's youtube channel tommartyn - it's the last video he posted, i believe it was yesterday he uploaded it
Anyways here's some pics of THAT one- this is as it was in the junkyard

And right next to it was this 1986 Big Red 250ES! the engine is not seized and there's a lot of good parts there we can use on his 250ES/250SX he has. We're gonna see if we can get that running too, we don't have a key for it and the wiring is a mess so getting spark is gonna be tough- Pics of the big red below

I was out running with one of my athletes one day. We were doing a 14 mile route we had never touched before. As we are running and doing a little goofing around (She's in college now.... Man I miss that kid) I look left and some guy has a trailer simply loaded with junk. Right on the top is what appears to be a Penton Jackpiner. I'm thinking that I can't believe somone would be junking suh a classic, no matter what the condition. I have some buddies who are REALLY into vintage racing ((thus my name on here, "Husky250"). I called him and he went out to talk to the guy. He came home for $75 bucks, made ONE phone call and made a 425 dollar profit to some Penton/KTM collector he races with...... You know, it would have been nice to get a finder's fee!!!!!
Great find BTW!!! You never know when an oportunity will pop up. Always nice to save one of these great trikes!

The 90 motor is in a 110/125m chassis. Glad to see you saved a couple. You may want to snag that orange Allis Chalmers in the background as well. You could probably make a couple bucks by simply listing it on craigslist.

No it's a 90 chassis, the front tube on the frame has no tag instead is stamped with the serial number and US90, and according to a google search puts it at a 1970 or 1971

Ah, you gotta love that. There's nothing like getting a machine that someone threw out and get it running. Usually it goes the other way for me. I buy one, admittedly fairly cheaply, that the guy says "just needs points", or some such thing, and it turns out the transmission is scrambled and the frame is cracked in half!
Anyway, good find!

My bad i guess the front end(forks, fender, switch/dash) along with the rear hubs/wheels threw me off. I should have looked a little harder on the rear end. I know that is not a us 90 front end. Anywho nice pick up.

I am seeing some indicators of 86 Big Red. Either year, on either one of them, it is always nice to haul home more then you took :)
if you remove the key switch, it will have a number on it that you can take to any Honda dealer and they will be able to cut you a new key right on the spot (that is if they ain't a bunch of lazy butts)

It is in fact an 86 big red according to the tag, it will make a good parts bike or POSSIBLY put it back together, but it needs alot. I think the trans or shaft drive assembly is seized, I cant get the wheels to turn in Neutral but the engine turns over in neutral with no problem
I sold both the US90 and the Big Red to my buddy Tommartyn has he has more use for them than me....

great saves.... had the owner of porchtown junkyard call me last week about 2 200s that came in. went today and they were gone. yards have been getting them in more and more lately and i keep missing them. 2 weeks ago riverroad recly got a 83 r in but wanted way too much than i was willing to give. they paid 5 bucks for it and wanted 6 bills, 4 more than it's worth. saw some mowers in your pics and i'm looking for parts for an old project tractor i have, mind pm'ing me the yard so i might be able to finish the old girl?

Porchtown is a shady place, man. They sell trucks with cracked frames and stuff. Be careful

REAL common for brake shoe actuator to lock in the 'on' position.
I took 3 hrs to get one apart one time. 18" drift and 3 lb sledge to get the brake actuator shaft out.
and about 5 min to get it back together. From now on I'll soak them first with paint thinner or nail polish remover.
Brake clean, liq wrench, PB and nothing else worked at all no matter how often I soaked them.
I mean this went on for months, soak, spray, pop the lever back and forth with a hammer or rock a million times.
They gotta come apart. from my experience, but doesn't cost a penny to fix.
Some kind of assembly lube that turns into sticky hard paint but comes off easily with
sandpaper. I've had 2 br and 3 sx's the same way..
(topic change)
Just unplug the ignition.
I have 2 with all 4 ignition wire touching nothing, hanging in free air and they both start with 1/2 kick and all the lights work,
incl neutral indicator and reverse.
