My ATC is having problems starting. It would start jist fine then one day nothing. What it does is it sparks once about every 5 pulls and sometimes it will turn over about three times and then nothing.
What's wrong with this thing?!

I took the plug out and it doesn't spark consistently, and it's getting gas.

Sounds like its time for a new stator !!!!! located behind the flywheel . You did the simple checks first like a new spark plug and trim a little off the plug wire to have fresh meat ?

have you also checked the cdi off another running trike and tested your coil

I can't seem to get the flywheel off. Im using a remover using longer bolts in place of the bolts that hol that little fan on. But it's not budging at all. Any tips?!
Im checking all the grounds, but I've only found one, and Its to what looks like the ignition box. It's black and it has the plug wire to it. What other grounds should I be looking for?

that is your coil the cdi connect to the wiring harness and is in a rubber grommet under the fuel tank on the frame. The safest way to pull the flywheel is with a special tool but I have heard others talk about using two long handled pry screw drivers

Grounds?
On some models, the kill switch is also part of the ground circuit to kill AND allow it to run.
Frame grounds, coil to frame mount,
Wire diagrams in the world class help section btw in the free shop manuals.

or try search 'intermittent spark'
The stator coil behond the flywheel has some ohm/resistance specs
but it may show good and Not work. since it's intermittent.

Some folks get so frustrated that they change entire wire harnesses only to admit that the old one probably were ok but just by going thru EVERY electrical connection, they become dependable.
Dielectric grease is what the factory uses to keep connections happy.

Yeah, that special flywheel tool is like 8 bucks and avail almost any bike shop.
I should get one too.

I got the flywheel puller, and it won't seem to bite. The one I got it 27mm and the site said it'll work for my 81 185s. Any tips?

worst comes to worst i had a 200s where the treads were f'ed up. put that gold cage back on and get a small 3 prong puller. pulls it off easy as pie

I'll clean the threads tonight when I get off work, and if that doesn't work I'll be using the puller on the cage. This three wheeler is pissing me off

I cleaned the threads, no good. Still won't bite.
I tried the puller on the golden cage, all it did was bend the cage.

What can I do?!
