This is an Email I received from Works Performance about the 350x shock:
Labor is included. Shock shaft must be in serviceable condition. If the shaft is not serviceable, see Guts Upgrade Cartridge costs listed below.
.
The Heart Transplant includes the installation into your factory shock of a complete 6 stage compression damping piston assembly with valving specific to your weight and riding style and gas and oil service. Does not include seals or shaft bushing. Replacement costs (if required) are:

Seal replacement (incl seal) $69.00
Shaft bushing replacement, $58.00

"GUTS" UPGRADE CARTRIDGES FOR STOCK SINGLE SHOCKS
Standard cartridge (not rebound adjustable), installed $389.00
Rebound-adjustable cartridge, installed $499.00
Replacement, or upgrade spring, From: $110.00
Cartridges include: complete piston assembly, shaft, seals and seal holder, bumper, eye or clevis, appropriate spring retainers and gas and oil service .

I found a local guy that does oval track shocks for cars, and has been doing some shock work for Rousch racing and a couple of Trophy Trucks for Baja as well. He is going to expand into the motorcycle and ATC/V market. I am dropping off my shock tomorrow morning. I will let you know what I find out.

I've been in this business over 23 years,{Atv/SLEDS/ Motorcycle} I made a decision early on,,to send ALL of my cranks, and shocks out. I am only One man,,was also running a dairy farm, and did not have time to be doing it ALL. So,,While I very much apprecieate the time, tools, and knowledge to rebuild shocks,,,the pricing has almost always sickened me!! Obviously,,you'd have to be very desperate,at the least,,to send it packing to Works at those prices!! It basically COSTS,,under $20 for whoever is doing the shock,,PLUS their labor,,which has to be at LEAST a $50 bill. Anything over that is ,,well,,,,depending on the shock,I suppose,,,,greedy. Again,no offense to those doing them. They are a tarry, greasy, nasty mess inside!! But these guys have the shock table, degreasers and equipment to deal with it professionally. And because of the continous greed,,,NO,,I don't have a SINGLE one I can recommend!! Sad,but true. My buddy was set when he had his Arctic Cat shop,,and after YEARS of me pushing,,he got the stuff,, He charged me $29,for a oil change and charge. $39 if it needed a seal..And when they sold out,,it went before I could get it!! Otherwise,,I would have the goodies! Murf,,let us know how your deal works out!!

I send my shocks to Dirtwork motosports, they can put new seals in it and change the oil and recharge it. None of the custom stuff though on these old shocks. All dirtworks does is atv stuff, mostly XC racing. Very knowlegdeable, and easy to talk to. http://www.dirtworksmotorsports.com/

I do my own for under 50.00. If you just want a stock rebuild, it's pretty easy to do with a bench vise and a few hand tools.

I was quoted 50.00 for my 350x shock. I dropped it off today, he said it may take a while as he will have to order the seals etc... I will keep you posted. Brian definitely knows his chit. He is a very personable guy, best of all he is 15 minutes from my house. I also picked up some fully synthetic lube for my front forks from him as well. He does not have a website, but I found this:

I contacted a dude on ebay. Rebuild. New cap. Black anodized. New spring to support my wt and extended swinger came to 345 shipped. Lil pricey but considering about 100 for rebuild parts. Springs are 80the thru h&r. Blk anodized is what it is plus his rebuild fee maybe its not terribly over priced?

Did you checkout Works Performance? They offer several replacement shocks for the 350X. Quite expensive. I also read their A-T steeler sing shock w/o reservoir would work. Although it doesn't have a res Works claims it will out perform the stock shock. You would have to call them for sizing.

http://www.worksperformance.com/html/atv_single_steeler.html

Works also offers a transplant service. You send them your shock and they gut it and replace the piston, ring, and valving components. Approx $240.

I attached their product chart for the 350X.
