Whats everyone running these days for tires and rim and wheel spacers? I heard something about 400ex rims or something because they give the bike a wider stance? I have factory rims with these skinny little mudbogger POS's on there:rolleyes:. They need to go. Please any pix would great :)

I have 9" wheels with a 3 + 6 offset. Gives about an inch of extra width.. You could get a 2 + 7 and have it even wider...
As for tires, if you want grip, bearclaws hands down... if you want a sporty look, that can slide... holeshots or razrs.... if you want your bike to look bad, get some knobbies.

What do you mean 3+6 or 2+7 offsets? Not sure i understand what that means.

For example, mine are 9 " itp wheels, with a 3 + 6 offset. ( also referred to by 3:6 )
The 3 in the offset means that from the contacting point against the hub, to the back, or inside of the wheels is 3 inches. (the edge of the wheel on the side facing your swinger) Smaller the number, the wider the stance.
The 6 is from the point contacting the hub, to the outside lip of the wheel. ( the side you see when looking at the bike. )
All these numbers change when you deal with narrower wheels. Like my bigreds, they are only 7 inches wide, so it is a 2 + 5 offset. ( which makes it really wide )
When buying wheels, make sure you get a 9 inch, most aftermarket 8 inch will hit the brake drum..

I set mine up with 22x12x8 Bear Claw on the rear on the stock steel rim..no need for rim change.
Front was a little tricky because the 22x12x8 was too wide for the forks and there was no other choice in the 8" in Bear Claws
So I ordered a 11x7 steel with with 2+5 offset..then spaced it out with 2 - 1" spacers to get the rim to centre properly. Then mounted a 23x8x11 Bear Claw up front..
It's outstanding! The high speed handling is awesome, the rough terrain handling is way better because you're not fighting a big tire that always wants to fight the ruts in the trail..

And it looks sexy as hell!!

@dougspcs - them rear tires are huge! It does have a nice stance to it though! The front tire is fine, I have a kenda up front with a 200x front end on it

I had a pair of the Duro's you got on the rear now..they were OK, but not great.
After putting the Bear Claws on my Big Red, I decided I had to find a way to set up my SX with the same.
Amazing difference..and the off-camber tippy factor is much reduced!!
Highly recommend them..
I like the setup of your front..though about doing that but chose the cheaper route instead.

If you make it wider and jump anything, you WILL bend that swinger. It is all bolted together and the last thing it needs is weight spread out further.
Trail ride it, you'll be AOK........

steve, the sx is just a trail rider and hunting trike. Im not an aggressive rider so I think jumps are not a factor for me. If i want to get crazy I have my 350x for that but im just talking a need for speed, not jumps.

The 400ex wheels do not fit over the drum unless you use 1.50" spacers... (got that mess in my garage currently)

Thorpe, is there anyone that makes 1.5 spacers? Im relatively new to SX mods.

Been running them on my BR for a year or two now... Well made, and I am not too gentle with my BR...

For tires and wheels, for some reason everyone on here seems to preach Kenda Bearclaws, but if you really want the best tires, get some Interco Vampire TSL's: http://www.intercotire.com/tires.php?id=29&g=3 IMHO, they are the best ATV tire ever made. I just bought a set for my Big Red. Just pick the size tire you want and get rims to match! I recommend ITP steels or Delta steels, they are affordable and good quality.
Here are my Vampire TSL's, just waiting on my ITP steels to arrive!!:

Size is 27x12-11, which is probably too big for a SX, but they come in all different sizes! (even stock size!)

Personally I was looking for more polished wheels than the steel because I just think the steel over time looks like crap lol. However Steelies def have durability. Can I order polished rims with a 2+5(??) offset and if so where? I figure if i run the 2+5 and 1.5 inch spacers I should be sitting pretty nice.

My friends and I all run 1.5" spacers on our BRs and luv how it gives it more balance (especially since we lifted ours a couple inches in the rear).
I paid about $45 for mine on ebay, similar to what Thorpe linked.

DennisKirk has a lot of options...here are the one rims I have currently on my BR https://www.denniskirk.com/dwt-douglas-wheel/rear-blue-label-10x9-wheel.p557994.prd/557994.sku

I'd kill the pretty looking alloy rims in a few rides..steel for me all the way!!
But that is why the market has a thousand choices..everybody has different taste.

2+5, with a 1.5 wheel spacer will be about 3.5 inches wider than stock on each side :)
Nice and wide, and stable.
I love polished aluminum wheels, they look great. Itp has quite a few options..

I mounted my mud sharks on stock 85 350x rims and mounted them with 1" aluminum spacers from E-bay:

The mud sharks seem to work pretty damn well. I don't know if I would have chosen them, but they were thrown in with the 350x when I bought it.

i never knew that the 350x was the same bolt pattern as a 250sx?
dougspcs

All of the larger ATCs have the same bolt pattern..4/110
200x, 250r, 250es, 250sx, 350x..front wheels aren't interchangeable but the rears will, besides the tires not being correct for the machine they work.
Thinking about throwing the 25" Bear Claws on the rear of my 350x just for fun!!

'murfman', you should find a similar mate for the front..you will be amazed how it improves the trikes handling and steering!!!
Those knobbies suck!!
