Problems, problems, problems...thats all my '82 110 carb is throwing at me. I rebuilt it back to factory specs (85 main, needle 3rd clip, and pilot 1 1/8 out) and it idles and runs absolutely excellent up to about 1/2 throttle, then it just bogs out and almost stalls. I ordered a new 78 main jet for it and now it does the same thing but I think its actually a little worse. The only aftermarket engine part I have on it is a DG pipe and a Moose airfilter. By the way, the richest jet for it is an 85 (stock), the middle is an 83 and the leanest is a 78. Any suggestions??? Thanks

Sounds like a fuel restriction problem. Have you tried moving the clip on the needle down a notch? Is the fuel flow unrestricted? Are the floats set correctly? Kinked fuel line? Carb breather tube clogged?

I don't think its the needle because it is used for midrange throttle and not too much on the top end, even if it was I don't think it would make that big of a difference but I'll give it a shot. As for fuel restriction, the fuel lines aren't pinched but I did notice that my fuel filter was half filled with rust! I'll replace that before I mess with the needle and I'll check for a clogged breather too. Forgot to mention the floats are set correctly. Thanks for the reply. I'm a goin huntin' this weekend but I'll mess with it as soon as I get back and post the results.

The mainjet only controls 3/4 to full throttle. You said you had rust in the fuel filter, which is most likely to be the problem.

Sure does.

Sounds like you are feeding it more air/fuel than it can eat and expell. I assume youve already checked the obvious that the filter is clean and intake is clear. For test purposes, take the exhaust off, and see what happens.
