Is the gas tank the same on the 1985 & 1986 250R's? If not what is the difference? My local Honda dealer has 2 NOS 1986 Honda gas tanks.....I think I'm going to buy them both. I have a 1985 250R and I would like to use one on that if it is the same. If not, maybe I will use them as trade bait for a 1985 tank.

Thanks,
Karl (KZR800)

I believe they are the same... color could be slightly different though as Kasey pointed out in your shroud thread. Are they asking oem price for them still? Don't worry, I'm not going to buy them lol. I don't need any more parts sitting around, and I don't own an R anymore. Just curious what they are asking for them.

The parts guy told me he would sell them for $100 each. I think he is putting it in his pocket. I gave the guy my phone number a few years ago and greased him $100 and told him to call me when and if he ever runs across ATC goodies. He has told me before that the owners have no idea what they have in storage. I have gotten some nice stuff from him....But like I said, I'm sure he is on the take. LOL I'm just going to pick them up after work today and see what's up.

Good price for sure. They retail for about $350 on the parts sites, but I don't think you can buy them anymore

I hear you.....The guy is cool and I'm sure cash to him is king. In all reality, besides us sick ATC freaks, most customers could care less about those parts. Years ago, I had the liberty to buy out an old mom & pop Arctic Cat dealer for pennies on the dollar. I sold of 90% of the items and was able to buy two new sleds and have most of the parts I needed for my restoration projects at the time. These motorsports are crazy. I guess we all yearn for the past, and this is ATC thing is so addictive. I'm guessing most of us are close to the same age, so it would make sense that we are all getting the bug at the same time. Like I told my wife....It is cheaper than Dodge Vipers....That could be a problem as soon as next year....LOL. I'm not in this hobby or any other to make money, but it is nice if you can trade or make a few bucks to buy other parts needed.
