Greetings and Good Morning to all,

I'm working on an 85 DX 225 Yamaha. I'm rebuilding the engine. My manual seems to be missing the specs on cylinder bore and ring end gap, I'm trying to find out if the bore is currently a standard bore or if the machine has already been made oversized.

The piston seems to be that of origninal equipment, but totally unsure. I can measure the bore in all the correct spots, but without the actual factory info as to what the tolerances for this machine are supposed to be would be in vain.

cant order new parts without knowing if its standard, 10, 20, or 40 over.

can someone help?

Yanaha Service Manual shows:
Stock bore - 70mm
Piston clearance shows .025 to .045mm
Installed gap for 1 & 2 rings is .15-.30mm with a service limit of .75mm
Oil ring 0.3 - 0.9 mm

PM me with your email and I'll scan the pages and send them to you.

EL, Thank you for this info, maybe now I can move forwards and actually finish this rebuild.

Thanks again.
