I have looked at past post but there is alot of mixed info. Anyway I have a 84 200x that I want to make a bit wider and need the forks rebuilt. Looking through the junk yard the other day and found a 84 and 85 250r front ends and a 84 r axle with sprocket and rotor. Now some say they are running these and some say they wont fit. Does anyone know for sure? Plus the axle didnt have any hubs. did the 84 have 24 or 25 spline axle?

The 250r fork tubes are longer and larger in diameter (35mm) than the 200x fork tubes (33mm diameter), the bolt spacing for the caliper is the same for both, the spacing for the fork tubes in the upper and lower trees is the same, and the bolt pattern on the bottom of the lower tree for the front fender mounting is the same. You could swap over the entire front end (upper and lower trees and fork tubes), but you can't mix and match those parts between the two.

Not sure about the rear axle, take one of your 200x rear hubs and see if it fits the splines of the axle in the junkyard.

do you how much longer they are? Looked at the axle again and its not going to work but if the front end will I would rather rebuild and use that insted of the stock one.

the axle will not work in a 200x only 81 82 250r axles swap over. as for the front ends guys have used 83 84 forks but you would have to have your 200x triples machined to fit. im not sure about using the 250r triples steering stems maybe different

only the 82 250r rear axle will work but you have to use 250r sprockets

If you want to add width easily and for a decent price get some 300ex/400ex oem hubs.

looks like the best bet would be to rebuild my stock forks. Seen some other post saying the x frame is weak at the neck and the r forks might be to much stress. The hub idea is great. Looks much better than spacers. Does it matter what year hubs?
