Ok guys I have seen these on eBaY several times. Either the 250R or th 2nd generation 200x my Question is Where did they come from? When you look at the Honda schematics you will see the front forks, spacer and axle are sold individually. I had a set for the 86-87 200X and it had a part No hand written on the box "HA5-003" . Did these forks come from crated ATC's ? Did they keep the parts that were boxed and bagged and send the rest to the crusher? I bought a set a year ago from "allforkedup" Cole George, Dave Tompson from Las Vegas... They had a ton of these for the 200x 350x 250r , I can't get ahold of them now, no response not sure what's up , can someone shed some light on this? Here is a set on ebay now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-Atc-350X-front-forks-suspension-NEW-NOS-/320772167549?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4aaf82d77d#ht_500wt_979

They only seem to show up for the latest ATC's like the 2nd gen 200x, 86 350x and 86 250r. My guess is similar to yours in that Honda began producing the components of these bikes with the anticipation of a certain number of bikes to be assembled in late 86 and 87. When that did not happen, there were a lot of unused parts left. What is interesting is that some of the last models like the 86-87 125m and the 86-87 200x although considered rarer seem to still have a lot of parts still available that have not been available for a decade on other models. Like seats and bearing carriers and such. (87 125m seat just went disco a couple of months ago). But it makes sense that there would be a lot more parts available for these models and now 25 years later they are finally running out. Weird that the forks did not get re-boxed into individual boxes to match the parts fiche. Seems that the few people that got their hands on these had a lot and have had them for a while. I have a 200x set in the box with no part number also. If you look at the pictures of how the bikes came packed in the crate, it is the same double box.
