View Full Version : 250sx stator/flywheel help please!!

I got the old side cover off my sx earlier and have a new one to put on due to the molded wiring piece that feeds into the case being cracked. The old cover slides on and off no problem. The new one, who i purchased from RPM_ATV, was a very tight fit. However with patience and drawing the cover on with the screws evenly, it went on. I didnt tighten it all the way as it didnt seem like it should be so tight and thought I would try and kick it over to make sure and wouldnt you know she is locked up tighter than a ticks anus . The kicker wouldnt budge. Now the new stator seems 'thicker' as it has a green epoxy coating on it?? Is this normal? My old stator (see the attached picture) doesnt. Im willing to bet this is the issue but if the new one came off a 85 then why am I having such a problem. Both cases look fine. Im going to pull my hair out! Someone please help. Once this is fixed I can finish this 3 year build finally:crazy:

Check the diameter of both stator,pretty sure your new stator is bigger. Someone come to my garage this summer with a similar problem.If I'm correct,if I remember correctly,there is 2 model of stator.The difference is the diameter,and I think the number of coil on it.If you swap to another model you need to swap the rotor too.

I bought the flywheel my new stator came off of so until I get that not much. I am having trouble getting the flywheel off since it turns very easily. Manual says I need a flywheel holder but I don't want to spend the money if I don't have to . Hopefully its back together soon. I want it for hunting! I will post up pix later

Ok here are some pix of the bike. In the one picture you can see how the inner part of the flywheel is lumpy and has grooves/ridges. The other one I just thought looked cool.
