So, I bought a non-running 200es from a guy in Texarkana. He told me that the starter gears were broken; but, he thought the top-end had been rebuilt because the gaskets looked new. Well, the starter gears were fine, but the cam timing was way off. Once that was corrected, the ignition timing was still about 30 degrees off. I had bought a parts bike for $100 because I needed a pull-starter for it (apparently he had broken several trying to pull-it over with cam timing incorrectly set-way too much compression like it was); so, I robbed the cdi base from it. Once everything lined up, she fired right up. Runs pretty good. I'll sand the black paint off the gas tank and use the red plastics off the parts bike. I didn't really want a Big Red, but I might just keep it. Here are the pictures:132779132780132781132782

Not a bad price at all for that Bigred. A little paint remover, and she would look great IMO.
Nice score.

the all black looks cool, at least in small pics, maybe not in person. i bet that huge back rack on your parts bike is worth what you paid for the parts bike to someone. seems like everyone wants a big red. its a pretty popular name with ATC's. cool find
