Put a good new atc 200 motor in my atc 185s and know its a good working motor and can't get it to fire. Good spark plug, carbs getting gas, but am still new at this. The carb is fairly new and shouldn't the carb be sucking gas rather then spitting ot out toward the air filter when the air filter is off??

Pull the stark plug out and dump some fuel into the cylinder. It should run long enough to draw some fuel into the carb. You might need to do it a couple times. Is your carb clean ?

Yeah carb is very clean. Inspected with flash light and no build up or gunk in it. Will definetly try some fuel in plug hole. Any chance it could be a wiring issue?? And why would fuel be shooting toward the air filter?

Get a fire extinguishert and keep it near you. To check spark pull the plug out of the head and rest it on the outside of the head. Set engine to ON and turn the engine slowly until you see a spark. If there is no spark you have a problem.

If you do have spark put the plug back in, make sure your engine is set to OFF. Put your hand over the carb and turn the engine. At some point you should feel suction. If instead you feel preassure something is wrong. (there might be a slight hint of preassure just before there is suction, that is fine, but the major force over all should be suction) You may have to spin the crank up to 4 times before this is felt. If the major force is preassure you either have a bent valve, incorrectly timed cam chain, or a valve that can't close due to a lack of "lash".

If you have spark and you have suction at the carb it should run UNLESS the ignition or cam timing is off.
