I tried searching around here and google but can't find anything specific, lot of 185 and 200 swaps. I'm sure someone here knows right off hand if its feasable or a direct bolt in. I've got a running trx125 spotted for cheap, but will be virtually worthless 2 me as an unsuspended quad.
Thanks!

Doing a little more research on the lil trx, I should note that the one I'm looking at is an 85 model with reverse, with the "vertical" engine, not a laydown like the old 90s and 110s. Thanks
85 is still the laydown its the 87 up trx that has the vertical motor

Well perhaps the seller got the year wrong. The pics he sent has a vertical engine in her. The guy don't seem 2 know much about it... I'm thinkn I can get this for 50-100 bux, and I got an 83 200x roller begging for an engine.......

If it is the vertical cylinder 125 then it should bolt right in. The electric start will be behind the cylinder and shouldn't cause you any frame clearance problems,so this would be a nice swap sense you will be picking up the electric start and reverse. I'm not for sure but you might be able to swap a jug from a 185 or 200 onto the bottom end of the 125. I helped a friend put a 79 Honda XL 125 engine thats 6 speed and manual clutch onto a 84 200x and it bolted right in place. Not as much bottom end power as a stock 200x but man that 6th gear will let it fly down the road . We estimate the top speed somwhere near 55mph and thats with 18 inch holeshots! Need to gear it down some to be more woods friendly.
a vertical 125 is strong I had a 86 and it was a beast made the 85 run like a 70 way stronger then what a 125 should feel like and in a 200x chassis it would prpobably work great!

Alright, thanks guys. I'm gonna go take a peak at this thing Monday. I hate 2 let a vintage honda slip into the wrong hands but a smallish unsuspended quad won't fit into my program very well, so if it'll slip into this x chassis then it'll make for a great cheap project. Thanks!
here you can see the peppieness of a vertical 125
