Im trading with my brother, a rifle he has wanted for years for his '84 Big Red. Tires are original and the rears wont hold air. Front fork got tweaked so it pulls to the right. I think its tweaked right about where the forks narrow up near the headlight mount. Other than those 2 issues its mint. Original plastic no cracks, tank is flawless, all decals intact. It was in the previous owner's basement for about 15 years. She'll be a nice addition to my stable. Ill post some pics after I pick it up sunday.

DC: can you straighten forks the design of the Big Red, as opposed to the X, R, and SX style forks?

Now you'll have as many 3 wheelers as you do sheds in your back yard.. Looks like your wheeler collection is gaining on your shed collection.. lol..

The thing about old guns is that they aren't registered. They can't take it from you, if they don't know you have it = priceless.

Trust me when I say Im very comfortable with the rifle going to my brother. Him or my father are the only 2 people I would let it go to. We arent exactly kids... in our 30's. My dad gave me that rifle and I shot my first buck with it. But my brother has alot of sentimental ties to it as well. I havent really used it for the last few years and he can add to his Winchester collection. He gave me a rifle out of the blue for no apparent reason a couple years ago, so I kinda feel I owe him one...

But, I will miss it.

Well, I brought the 'Ol Red home today. My bud Chillian hooked me up with some real descent 22x10x9 rear tires for it. Tried to break em down today using some wood blocks in a woodsplitter but no dice. Beads are being real stubborn and wont budge despite my best efforts. So, rather than screw up 2 perfectly good tires, I'm going to take the tires to a shop tomorrow and get em switched around so I can use Ol Red for hunting season which opens in about 3 weeks! Yeah, those tires are 3 inches shorter and 2 inches narrower, but they will do the job nicely till I get around to spending the coin on some 25's for it. Ill get some pics tomorrow after I get the new rubber on it, weather permitting. She's in awesome condition!

But yes, I did feel a little funny handing my brother my old model 94 today. But he had some sadness letting go of 'Ol Red too... All is well, we are both happy.

Where are you seeing pre-64 model 94's for 80 bucks??!! I havent seen one under $400 in descent condition in years. AT least around here in the Peoples' Republik of New Yorke....

I checked Winchester Va craigslist a year ago they were 50-150 bucks. You can get a last gen 250r with a rebuilt engine for 700 bucks here too... of course we trade rocks for things here still so the concept of currency is still kind of new.

Well, here she is! Took it down in the woods looking for deer poo to figure out my hunting spots this season. I had alot of fun putting around on the old girl. It rides surprisingly comfy on the bumpy trails considering its a hard-tail...so long as you dont go too fast on the bumps. LOL.

Admittedly, the 22" tires look a bit un-natural out back, but it rides real descent. Ill get a set of 25's back on it sometime when a I have a couple hundred bucks kicking around.

So what do you all think? :naughty:

looks like a great example. they ride great if you go the proper speed for the terrain!! lol. Glad your enjoying it already. the 22's dont look as bad as i thought in the pics.

That's a very clean bike. Compared to say, a completely unsuspended bike, the hardtails are not too bad! I find a lot of the bumps get taken away with the front suspension.
Looks like a good deal to me, and those 22's do not look as bad as I thought they would! Looks really good actually.

Have fun with her!

You are lucky to find one with a decent tank, seat and plastics. That should last you forever. One question, has the exhaust clamp been brazed or welded? Or is there a build up of something on it?

RIDE-RED 250r

No, it hasnt. I believe there is a sealing donut that is supposed to be there that is missing. Seems like I remember my brother telling me that a year or so ago. I think he separated the header from the rear sections and tried to wrap a little bit of exhaust packing there to help seal it better. Ill probably look a little farther into it this winter.

He bought it from our other brother's father-in-law 2 or 3 years ago. It had been partially disassembled in his basement for quite a few years. Plastic, tank, carb and i think the rear portion of the exhaust were taken off. I think thats why the exhaust seal was missing.
