Is there suposta be a way to time this motor or does the fly wheel not need to be in a special spot

According to my manual it looks as though there is no adjustment. It looks like everything just bolts on. I wonder if the woodruff key has something to do with it. When Tecate's act like that it sometimes is the woodruff key. It is weird that it would do it as a result of running out of gas though..
Well we r thinking pickup but once again it just backfires all the time now low rpm will run will idle give it gas dies

sounds like you got all the crap off the bottom of the tank in the carb. or you didn't tighten up the flywheel good enough and it sheared the key....

ya i would go with kasey prob dirt in carb if u dont have inline filter. but my 250r the day i got it i ran out of gas pushed it back home but gas in her started then started backfiring. found out it was just a fouled plug

Kasey is spot on. It will be one or the other. When you run ANY vehicle out of gas,,you suck all the crap at the bottom of the tank into your fuel delivery system. That is more than likely it. Clean your carb. And being you just put a stator in it. You could have left the crank nut loose. Tweaking your flywheel key. Clean your carb 1st,,make sure your air filter is clean and Oiled. And I bet she rips again.
K will try it again see what happens
Bike fires every other kick not consistent key way is still good new stator old pickup

How much lbs are you using to tighten the crank nut?
Torque wrench ?
How are you holding the flywheel ?
( had this happen to my friends 250r, didn't torque the nut corectly and sheared The woodruff key backfire and wouldnt
Start. )
Key is still good like I posted before

Well we need to know if you torqued the nut to the Manual spec's!
A flywheel or locking Gear pin is needed to achieve this correctly...
( only other thing is a exhaust leak )
Plug was changed used a impact to tork down
Ended up being cdi after new stator pickup coil plugs heading to silver lake in am to try her out hope she is good to me
