Have any of the members on here who do billet parts, thought of making a billet brake fluid reservoir for the 85-85 atc 200x? They are no longer available and I haven't found a source for any and I've been doing alot of searching. I have no idea how much one would end up costing, but there were alot of 83-85 atc 200xs made and I would think there would be a few sales at least. Just a thought.

I'd take one for sure. I am currently running a plastic stock one form my old 2001 TL1000.

Okay, I'm looking to start doing some work on the 2nd Gen Nicholson 500 and it takes 83-85 atc 200x parts. As most people may know (or may not) the 83-85 atc200x brake reservoirs are no longer available. If anyone has one that is nos and would like to sell, please let me know. I'm looking for the reservoir, diaphragm and cap. In the meanwhile, is there anyone who is working with aluminum and has the machinery, that would be interested in making a billet 83-85 atc200x rear brake reservoir? I sure would like to buy one and I would think that there would be others interested since there is no replacement around that I know of. It sure would be cool if there was someone who could get this done. Help the triking community out please. Thanks.

I know OD motorsports makes them for the second gen 200x's and the 350x's 250r's that all use the same cup. The mounting is different though. Maybe they can make the 83-85 version if you contact them.

Certainly add usable bling to a machine.
On side note this posting has me curious if my favorite molding resin holds up to brake fluid. Holds up to anti-freeze (same material I use in making coolant over flow bottles that won't hold up to gasoline),,, will know in a day or so.

What DOT would that brake fluid be? I have the reservoir which may be ok, and the diaphragm I don't know what kind of shape that it's in, but the cap looks pretty crusty. It's nice to see some attention paid to this problem and I can't believe that no one has looked into this before. I know the 350x, later 250r and the 86-87 200x uses the same reservoir. I was just hoping to find something that would work for the 83-85 200x, since there were so many built and the fact that my 2nd Gen Nick 500 uses 83-85 200x bits. I've seen those billet later model reservoirs, and it would be super to have a billet 1st Gen 200x reservoir as well. I was hoping that someone on here would be able to come up with some kind of solution.

It is dot3 Pat. Hey good point about the diaphragm rubber. I have some rubber trimming from today's trimming of intake boots,,,, I will toss a couple of those pieces in the containers as well.
I used 2 different containers because I was not sure if one would hold up over the other.
Those are the wife's little mixing cups,,, she was the one curious about all of this.

I will tell the Mrs. Brandon ! She will make the molds needed for this, along with the product from them. We found a okay looking one on eBay so she will have one of those coming in next week some time.
I had a look and poked around at the test sample materials,,, still solid. Time will be the test for that. Looks promising though.

Passed. No deterioration in the plastic or the rubber after 48 hours of soaking in brake fluid.

That looks promising. Do you have to have the official factory diaphragm rubber for the reservoir to work or will it work with just a plain piece of rubber?

I just got off the phone with Howdy talking about a bunch of things (how to stuff) and I too had questions about the basics of how those work and learned much tonight.
I can not explain it as good as Howdy told me so hopefully he will find a moment and post up in here about it.
Definitely a needed part.

The Mrs. asked me to make the molds so I got started on one part of it.
Supplies being ordered up tomorrow for the other components.

added a little personal touch to the part so it is in the mold :)

Went ahead and used the proper mold material for the top cap while I was making the other 2 molds.
I am going to let these molds further cure out on heat before using.
Test fitting the inserts that will be installed and resin mix poured over looked good.
I most likely will get a pour in tomorrow and de-mold Monday night.

Got to pull first part from it today, got a learning curve to do with the rubber material itself (baby power in the mold halves will solve stickyness problem).
Anyways, mold performs very well. Can't trim this piece yet, still too tacky.
Pulling the main body of the assembly from that mold tomorrow night.

Seeing all that goes in these processes, never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for all the time and effort.

The first rezzy main body got pulled tonight so not much else to do other then assemble one and see if component alignment is correct/no leaks,,, that sorta thing. We used blue food coloring + water for preliminary testing.
This one will go in the display case in the upstairs landing like where most all of our first successful parts pulls go, along with some of the other really KOOL stuff other members hand make.
When she gets another set of parts pulled we will find something/someone to test out the operational side of it.
The hose end is undrilled in the main body so I am able to test out for leakage,,, other wise it would have a drill bit run up it.
The screw holes for mounting the top cap formed out well but one of the long "tits" to block them open come apart from mold so I will get the honor of drilling that out too, probably won't be long before the other "tit" gives up so I will have those to drill out for the phillips head screw/bolts to pass through.
The Mrs. has already seen the drilling process in opening the Tecate coolant over flow + 86 Tri-Z coolant over flow bottles and wants nothing to do with it,,, I keep telling her it all about her confidence level ~ her reply is she is confident I will enjoy doing it :)
Well, these are now her molds to work with as she pleases. I fully expect to see red top caps since that is her favorite color.

Thanks guys, john + Liway.

I will have no problem testing! :) My factory unit is perfect though, just a little discolored. If you can make the front res. that would be the ticket!
