View Full Version : 1985 ATC 250R - A few questions

What's up guys - First time poster on this new board. Long story short is that I started a 1985 ATC250R project before I left to work over seas in '03 and now that I am back in country I am going to continue it. I have a few questions you guys might be able to help me.....

What happened to Cal ATV? I tried going to there web site and it doesnt appear to be there.

I am looking for a few small items that I can not seem to find as they are discontinued - a clutch cable clamp (bracket on the crankcase that anchors the clutch cable), torque link bushing and the "u" strap that goes on the back of the front brake lever/master cylinder assembly - anybody have any of this or can anyone direct me anywhere other than eBay to find them?

Handle Bars - the ones I have appear to be too large in diamter - what is the diameter of the OEM bars for the 85 250R?

I have a Honda Factory racing tank with radiator shrouds (for flat track - allows sharper turn radius) - this set is in good condition and appears to be rare. Does anyone know the approximate value it would bring on the used market? Also will it work with the standard radiator brackets or did it come with modified brackets? The shrouds appear to be longer than stock.

Thanks for any info/advice on the above.

a complete used short track tank kit went for about 1400$ on ebay not very long ago. just the tank and shrouds i would guess 800$ on ebay maybe more. welcome home

Wow....I had no idea that the kit would be so valuable. Thanks for the heads up. Have any idea what happened to CalATV? That place was awesome when it come to used parts that were discontinued. I been looking on eBay for the clutch cable clamp and its looking like it and the torque link bushing are going to be hard finds.

Alright - interesting development on the short track kit - I have located the radiator brackets and support arms for the brackets. I now have the tank, radiator shrouds, radiator brackets and support arms for the short track kit. Is this the full kit? Were there any other pieces that came with it? Its in great shape for its age. Looks fantastic.

no its not complete i seen it on ebay it really looks good . you are missing the raidator hoses and the lower triple tree and i cant tell but i think you may have the wrong raidator brackets need a picture from the side and i did not see the red brackets that move the bottom of the radiator back. The tank and shrouds are the really hard thing to find and yours look really good .

Anybody have any info on the clutch cable clamp? Is there a site that will cross reference the OEM part number? Would like to see if there is one from another bike that might fit. Not having much luck finding it.,
