Does the 250 cylinder fit the 225dx. It looks like they have the same stroke just lower compression. doing a restore on a 84 and just picked a motor from a DR thats smoking like crazy so getting ready to do a topend rebuild and was thinking trying this out.

its a direct bolt on,the 250 cylinder has a really low cr 8.7:1.would be best to bore your 225 cylinder to the next size and go with a wiseco high comp piston that is 10.25:1

Hey thanks guy. I thought the cr was alot lower, but was going to look around to see if there was a better piston out there. There is just not alot out there for this motor. This a buddys build and so far he has most of it powered candy blue and we fit a 200x front end on it thats looks sweet but with the extra rake to the front we want to run 20" tires on the back. With no way to change gearing we thought big bore might be the way to go.

I put the 10:25-1 in mine... and you thought the starter had a hard time before..LOL you got a pic of the 200x front end on the bike?

I can take a pic of the bare frame with the front end on it tonight and load it up in the morning. The swinger was cracked so its out being welded. Looks like it added alot of rake to the front but cant be for sure till the swimger comes back. We got alot of mixed info before we did it but other than adding a stop and swapping out bearings it was a bolt on mod.

when it comes time to freshen up the top end on my 225,im going to use the wiseco max bore ytm225 piston with a timberwolf std bore cylinder.i'll gain a few cc's and still have a high cr.

I measured out the X forks and the 225 forks this afternoon. (looking to do this to our 225) It X is 1 inch longer. I figure running a 22 and sliding the forks up in the tripples will be close enough for goverment work. Guess you have already answered my question on whether or not the X tripples will go onto the 225.... Good info on here guys, Thanks alot!!!

I went to take a few pic and he h ad it back apart to make storing easer while waiting for the rest of his parts to come in. it does mount up easy. Have to slide the stem dont in the lower tree about a inch farther. We used all 200x parts but the bearings. I think we used 1/4" but cant say for sure because we did try alot of different ones. We thought about a 22" tire. There is some extra rakewith those forks so it makes up for some of the length. The best we could mock up without the swinger the 23" front with 20" rears looked really good. He sort of going for a flat track look. Using the 225 piston with the timberwolf cylinder is a great idea. Is it the shape of the piston what makes the cr lower on the timberwolf or does it have a taller deck height?

its has to do with the deck height of the piston.the 250 piston has a flat top and the ytm high comp piston is domed shaped.

Right that will work great then. Thanks for the info.
