Almost done converting my Tecate to DC so I can run an HID and LED's.

It currently has:

65 watt lighting coil
trail tech voltage regulator rectifier
55w HID

I am still unsure if the 65 watt coil will be able to recharge a 12v 5ah battery. The math says that the 65w coil will put out about 5.5 amps at 12 volts, and I know the HID sucks about 4.5 on 12 volts. Add in some LED's for the tail light and auxiliary lighting and I figure i'm right around 5 amps.

But is the 65w coil rating a continuous current rating, or a max current rating? I know that the voltage increases as engine RPM increases, and I've heard rumors that these can peak up to 13.8 volts, which would mean that the coil can put out closer to 6 amps?

Can anybody help confirm this?
