OK so im trying to start my ATC after replacing the whole ignition system, New CDI, New coil, New plug, new AC regulator. And it was sitting for about a month before it stopped working (I thought it was the electrical because I couldn't get a spark) as i'm trying to kick it over, it violently kicks back up. It used to do this before, but not like this. It used to be you could kick and it would make it back up after the kick. Now my kick wont even go all the way down only about halfway before it comes back up to hit me. I did notice it will kick over if I crank the motor slowly and I mean "slowly" by hand. Also I did notice a kind of bad noise come from the kick the last time I tried to start it. Any Ideas? I'm pretty sure something on the bottom end is seized up. I don't want to go pulling it apart if the top end is the only part messed up.

was the gas on while it sat for a month? if so if the float level is not set properly it may have filled the bottom end with gas

Did you check the timing? (assuming its a four stroke, because you gave a virtual treasure trove of info about the model:D)

Sorry forgot to mention its a 2-stroke ATC 250R. Can't imagine the float would cause the kick stand to come back back up like that.......... is that possible......? No valves, timing is on new CDI

Gas was not connected when it sat, only gas was left in float chamber

Does it backfire, or just kick back?

No back firing. Just half way down and back up, very quickly. I've been trying to find out what it could be all night haha.

Sounds like your timing is off, probably too advanced from the sounds of it. You are describing kick back, so the engine is firing, it's just firing too early, thus forcing your kickstart back at you.
