Hey guys as some of you know I am letting go of my 250r (2nd gen). I had a guy offer me an 85 250sx with out and ownership and $200 for my R do you guys think it is worth it. I have had my R for sale for about a mouth now and no one was offer me more then $1000 or anything that I could resell to make money on. I have about $1300 into the bike as it set. Thanks Aaron

i wouldn't......its a good looking trike. why get rid of it? I hurt my back a few months ago, and ever time I ride the R it hurts it more..

Make sure there's no starter noise when starting it,, or freewheeling clutch when you turn it off,and take a 17MM with you to check the diff oil. It needs to be nice clean oil,not milky. See if any of the brakes are sticking, and the usuall bearing, spline stuff. Lean on him for $300-$350,and I think you 'd be doing great providing his is a tight bike. Good luck!

You know value is in the buyer..is there a place for a 250sx for your collection? They are a nice trike, but no where near the 250r pound for pound thrill rating!!

Check that SX really well..tank good? rear diff good? I'm with 'atc007', if that diff oil is milky..she's a rebuild case!!

If it's a trike you want I say go for it!! I agree that another $100-$200 is in order..

They are worth a bit more than your area, not a ton unless it's a special like the 350x or liquid 250r..most are only worth a couple hundred more than they would be in Michigan.

Other areas of Canada are crazy, like BC I hear..

To each his own, I think it depends on the type of riding you enjoy the most, haulin ass or just casual trail riding. My self would probably stick with the R

Bc isnt that bad do far this year I have gotten 4 free bikes a 85 250r for $1000 MINTY a 250es for $1700 MINTY and a 85 200x for $1200 which is Monty as well and I saw a 85 tecate for $1200 so some prices are good and some prices are just off there rocker

Down here in Florida people ask that for an r that looks like it's been through the ringer. You could probably get $1800 down here in a second! I just traded my 200x for a 350x if that makes you feel any better. He had the same problem as you. Got in a motorcycle accident and the 350x was too much so he downgraded.

Look the SX over real good since he's been pretty liberal with a spray can. Could be hiding something? Is the gas tank hand painted too? It looks way too shiny compared to the rest of the trike. I guess the trade would be a matter of preference; this deal only has to satisfy two people, you and the other guy.

i wouldnt.. its a nice trike and all (but then again ive never ridden one or even seen one in person) but if its for your back id say go with a 200x that you can still have some fun but not to much power and they have awesome suspension.. well mine did

well the other problem is the guy is 3hours away so if he comes down to trade he will want to trade there would be no ifs and or buts. That beginning said The only info I have his bike is from his ad and a few emails. I think I may give up on this sx I found another one on kijiji that is only 20min away from my house http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-ATVs-snowmobiles-ATVs-ATV-3-Wheeler-1985-Honda-250sx-W0QQAdIdZ302736010

id say go with a 200x I have one it needs a totally rebuild.

Yeah, I'd forget about the first one. And I was thinking about going to check that second sx out. I bet it is beat to crap though. The guy doesn't even have a picture.
Let me know if you need another set of eyes if you go check out that sx on rossland aaron.

Ok bring up an old thread here. So I still havn't sold this R and my back still isn't up for riding it. I have been talking to a guy a few towns over about a dune buggy with a skidoo engine in it. Now this buggy isn't a bcredneck buggy, it seem to be built pretty nicely from the pic's. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks Aaron http://peterborough.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-ATVs-snowmobiles-ATVs-buggy-W0QQAdIdZ313906670

the biggest problem I see is that its rotary valve engine which means it has primer carbs on it(unless they were changed). If you are familiar with them then you know it takes a whole lot of finesse with the primer and throttle to get them started. With the recoil at the back and the throttle at the front I think it would be near impossible to get it started alone and back troubles to boot. I don't think its right for you. just my opinion, let us know if you go for it

Bad deal IMO Aaron. Looks like too much of a backyard mechanics dune buggy. I would wait it out...
