View Full Version : Two trikes stolen in Mass!

By me. :D
I'm going to keep the price classified on what I paid for these two machines. They're a lot nicer than they look in these pics. They were bought new by the current owner's neighbor in their respective years, and he in turn bought them a few years later. The Big Red he bought new himself I believe. That one is for sale as well. If it were an 85-87, I would have bought that too. He wants 500 for the Big Red. In his mind the Big Red was the one that was worth the most, if that gives you any indication of what I paid for the other two. They've spent their whole lives indoors and they've barely been broken in. They're going to clean up really nice. It is now officially time to clean up and finish my garage. I have no choice now.
On a side note, I'm going to be looking to get rid of my 86 Tecate, no engine. I'm not sure what I have to get rid of and what kind of shape everything is in. I'm just sick of looking at it and I like my first-gens. The PO was a butcher, so I'll have to look at parts as they go and see what kind of condition they're in.
Enjoy-

One easy way to get a rough idea of how much time is on one, check the sharpness of the lines on the seat, and make sure it's the original cover and hasn't been redone. Ya see, the lines on the S, and the SX are still sharp, compared to the Red. Works on most everything else that had a lined seat to begin with.

the 200 bigreds never had sharp lines like the other models. the foam has rounder edges from the factory!!

Yeah, there's no question of their originality. They've been in the same yard for their entire existence.

Nice trikes..you're right. Too bad the Big Red wasn't an 85-87..would have been a pretty excellent trifecta!!
I sure do like that red/white/blue combo on the 86 SX..it's so much sexier than my 85s red/black. I sure would like one of those!!
There was one local to me for sale for $800, but the condition wasn't anywhere yours..so I left it.
Maybe someday you'll tell how serious was your criminal offense..my bet is theft under $1000!!

How's $500 for the S and the SX...
I'm hooking my buddy up with the S. He accompanied me to Trikefest and I have created yet another trike-o-holic. I didn't want to let either bike go, but he promises to keep it minty-fresh and stored inside. It's his first one.

I knew it. When you said he priced the Big Red the highest I knew you got them for about $200-$300 a piece. Good score man I can't wait for the after pic's.

Sweet John how far away is it from you???? it's 3 hours from me. I'm thinking next week as this storm that's coming tomorrow. can you contact him for me or what's the deal?
fabiodriven

It's not going anywhere Shane. I told him the same thing. I'm picking mine up after the storm as well. They're all inside, safe and sound, not advertised for sale. You tell me when you're ready and I'll talk to him. You'll be dealing with him direct, I'm not making a penny off of these.

Damn Fabs.
Just..............................damn.
It's times like this were I want to know you address, work hours, and dog's favorite treats and names.
And the seats on the 200ES still have lines on them, when they have a ton of time on em the seats mush out nearly flat. That's the way mine is.

Update-
Dragged both machines home today. Rego (the owner of the 200S) and I tore into the S. We need it ready for a ride on the 10th of September. I cleaned the carb and changed the oil while Rego gave the SX a bath. Threw 'er back together and it fired up after about 3 pulls (not even with the choke on) and idled perfect. We took turns scooting around the yard and it runs and rides perfect. The tires are expanded from over inflation and Rego wants a set of 20's on there anyways. They weren't dry rotted though. I was surprised about that. Both machines have a little bit of oxidization from being used on the beach once or twice, particularly the SX. They would have been PERFECT if it wasn't for that one detail. Still really nice though.
I'll have pics of the both of them all cleaned up soon.

Just an update if anyone cares....
My buddy's and I were kicking around in the garage having a couple beverages and peeping at the trikes when one of my friends suggested I kick over the new 250SX. I haven't even touched it yet. It's got 4 year old gas in it and I wanted to go through it before I even turned it over. For some reason I climbed on, put the choke on, and gave 'er two kicks. Started on the second kick and ran flawless with the choke on but it wouldn't run with the choke off. I took it for a rip around the yard (In the pouring rain) and she's a gem for sure. It'll be out on it's first big ride to New Hampshire next month. What a score.

The Big Red is still up for grabs. Had a balk on that one. I don't own it, it's still at the original owner's house. I'm not making a penny on it, just hooking it up with a caring owner. He wants $500 for that.
The S has been sold to my friend.
The SX is not for sale and there is a long line of people who want it if it ever is offered for sale.

Just an update about how I felt about the SX.
Plain and simple, the trike is the balls. It was perfect for the particular terrain we were on and it ate it up. I've been riding two stroke 250's and up for years without having touched anything with bouncy tires or an auto clutch. It was different at first but it worked out great. The SX is an absolute blast in the terribly rocky NH trails. It lifts the front end at will up until 4th gear and bounces right over everything without even having to pick a line.
All in all great machine and I'm lucky to have scored it.

You can't beat that deal with a stick! Original tires with low hours aswell. 250SX was such a luxury trail trike even by today's standards. You can tell it's an 86 by the tank decals in 86 "Honda" logo in red and "SX" logo in blue. In 87 both the Honda and SX logos were red.
