I'm so smart I can give advice but this 90's got me stumped.

Dead clean carb, the fattest bluest spark imaginable.
Starts 1.2 pull,
idles perfectly for a minute or so, then goes real low rpms,
hit the throttle, it revs great, idles down for a minute or so
then dies off and takes 3 or 4 pulls to restart.
Definitely getting gas, smells a little rich.
Runs great under heavy load, pulls like a mule...

I'm thinking the clip holding the main needle down has flipped? and maybe just settling wherever it wants to?
or
is there a spark advance plate the wants to rotate a little
that may be stuck?
How do these get their spark advance?
a plate under the points? with rusty springs?

Just sick of smelling like gas
and bored with the 'challenge'
and the sx ith the pumper carb is a 1/2 kick rocket ship.

lazylazy I know.
Maybe I need some wizecrackin' 'sympathy'
or some other guilt trip to get me to fix it right
without excuses.

Thanks

and I hope everyone is ready for the storm.
Latest is 100mph winds near NY f it gets that far.

Floats might be not working properly. The 3-4 pulls later might give it enough time to refill the bowl.

yeah, and I thought the tank vent might be bad.
Oh, I see, maybe wait a few minutes after it dies and see if it starts with ONE pull.

idk, that carb looks new.
Guess it would be faster to take a good working one off another trike.

Still interested in how the spark advance works.
If it advances when I rev it, it may hang there in the advanced position.

Maybe I'll take a break and then just go at it with a fresh
'attitude'.

Thanks
