My nephew has a 1986 200SX that looks like it will be to costly to fix, plus he is ready for more speed and a clutch.

The lower ends looks very much alike on the 200SX and the 83-85 200X. Does anyone now if this an easy bolt up, like the 200S and 200X swap????

Someone had told me they stole the 86 200sx topend for the 86-87 200x. Is this true, if so maybe the 86-87 200 motor will fit?????

Any help would be great... Thanks Matt

The 86 200 sx is basically the same motor as the 86-87 200x with the addition of the automatic clutch. The top ends are the same. The 200 sx motor should bolt right into a 200x frame, now for the bad news.....it will only fit into the 86-87 200x frame. It's a completely different motor from the 83-85 200x (or 200s for that matter) You MIGHT ( I have never attempted that one) be able to get it to fit into a 83-85 frame, but it would require cutting and welding.

The 200SX also has electric start, and reverse, so there may be an issue with the kickstarter on teh 200X motor.

It won't fit because the exhast come's out sideway's on a 1986-87 200 motor, the only way it will is with major frame modification. This is the same thing with trying to fit a 1984-85 tecate motor in a 1986-87 tecate or vica verse a

i thought the sx was shaft drive....
which in that case, no exchange possible

The 200SX is a quad, and its chain drive.

The first TRX200sx was made in 1986. What you probably have is a TRX200, which is the utility shaft drive model with racks which was upgraded to a TRX250. Looks a lot like this.

The 200sx was almost like a 4 wheeled version of an ATC200s, and a very small "sport" type quad, only slightly larger than todays TRX90.
