View Full Version : Forthcoming Pilgrimage

My Brothers, I have been summoned by the almighty to take unto thee a pilgrimage of epic proportions (Meaning I've finally gone and listened to the voices in my head). A journey that only I can bear alone (no one wants to go with me). I seek a Holy Grail (Clapped out, rare, eyesore). Only befallen to me as another showing of my faith (Just like I need another hole in my head). The journey ahead will be long and arduous and frought with many dangers (Fast food joints, lot liazrds at truck stops and bathrooms few and far between). It will be costly (Many tanks of gas). It will be torturous (Flatulence and the runs!). But hopefully in the end it will be fortuitous (Another Freak Trike in the stable). I will lose much during the journey (A suspension110 and cash). I will meet friends and foes alike (board members and maybe a traffic cop or 2). Please say a prayer for my safe passage and succesful return. I'll post pics upon my return. I hope to be driving there Friday and returning Saturday. A solo kamikaze trip that I'm sort of psyched about and half dreading! Wish me luck. Hopefully this will be another entertaining thread for one and all. Whore away on here, I highly encourage it. LOL

I must travel through the hills and the dales and past the hamlets and the waffle houses, great and small. I must pass by a large guitar and several fireworks outlets! Maybe I'll obtain a small trinket of high altitude and loud report to proclaim my safe return and successful new ownership!!

It's all these doggone 12+ hour watches! LOL How's the hand? How's the space in the garage???!!!! I sure wish I would hit the lotto so I could help you buy a bigger garage to work on my junk with! I need to come up soon and bring a couple different shocks that might work better on the 70 and drag it back home. I need to get the PK wired up, may need help. Timmy said the frame and swinger are done, so I need to drag that back home as well and get to tapping holes and transferring parts. Unless you want to do it up there? LOL I miss you guys up there. Just wait till you see this new freak! Going 4 stroke big. Will need to switch out front ends! LOL
And not another Tiger, but Older OG cool.

So true Richard, so true. I long to feel the sand in my crack. There are so many people out your way that I want to meet and break bread with and partake of the chilly liquids and be baptised with the communion of the fish taco! (Not to be confused with the fishy smelling fur Taco! LOL) That would be the trip to Mecca, not just a pilgrimage. Soon I hope to have a machine worthy enough of the trek out west. Maybe 2 machines, who knows? Save me a piece of the promised land. I just don't want to be lumped in with the rest of the dreaded East Coasters! LOL

Well, Let me just say that was a bit of driving. Roughly 11 hours one way! No real problems on my part, just getting to deal with the citizenry!!! I'm back in Balto-less now with the Nick in the back of the truck. Got to deal with a good ole 495 traffic jam. Saw several accident along the way. Had an adventure or 2. Almost threw my newly activated cell phone out the window! LOL Got to learn to use my new TomTom which was handy on an occasion or 2 in Nashville. I wish I would have had a 500 engine stashed under my bed!!!!

08-21-2011, 12:35 AM
I'm pretty stoked about it, but maybe not as much as motoman is about the suspension 110 frame. He told me to call him after I got home when I was leaving Nashville, and he had called 3 or 4 time before I even got around the capital beltway in DC! LOL The Nicholson will need some love and who knows what for the engine. So it will be a bit of a project.

Thank you for the hospitality thought, but after driving for all that time yesterday, I wasn't my usual congenial self! LOL Actually I was on good behavior, but all that driving was a drag. It just freaks me out, when I see people down south move over for police and other vehicles along side the road or people move over to let others merge onto the highway. Up here, people would aim for the cops alongside the road. No lie. I didn't get a chance to go to a Nashville walmart though, that may have been entertaining. I just laugh and laugh when I see the website, the people of walmart. And when I see some of the "men" wearing dresses and heels into walmart! LOL

Well, the big triker in the sky is washing away the sins of the road and previous owners! LOL It's been raining here off an on all day. I awoke this morning to thunder and lightning. I drove through rain in southern VA yesterday afternoon and I guess it finally made it over the mountain. The cops like it when it rains 'cause it helps keep the crime rate down!

Don't just stand there and point a finger at me, get down here and turn a wrench! I've got to get some steering stem bearings and find my atc250r front end parts. Plus trying to get the kicker parts off ebay so I can see if I have spark or if the engine is locked up. Maybe I should get it off the truck, pull a plug out and see if it will roll in 1st gear? And I have my shop manual on it's way too! LOL

Moto, Don't be posting in my thread unless you have your pics up and posted!!! LOL Fabio, oil is the least of my problems right now, but don't let me forget! LOL I don't have all the parts for a complete front end, so I just went on ebay and bought some used triples and the front hub and steering stem bearings. My axle is up in PA on another hub, so I may have to buy an axle as well. But I have a front headlight set up? I must not have found the bargains for the other bits, but I'm getting them now. LOL

My recent ebay acquisitions are finally rolling in. Some really nice 200x rear fenders and seat and tank and a 200x front end and some 200x rear hubs and wheels. Also 81 250r triple trees and some steering stem bearings and some front hub bearings. So, hoping to get a front end on here by the end of the weekend. I'll have 2 to choose from just in case. 81 250r wide tire and 83-85 200x skinny tire in case the 250r front end doesn't fit. Oh Great Gazoo, I need you now.

When are we going to see some pics of the collection, Veal? You have such interesting stuff!

Vealmonkey
09-02-2011, 02:06 PM
There are pics of my stuff all over the site here. I've never really taken pictures of everything together. And really, my stuff isn't all together. It's scattered. I have a suspension 70 in Pa right now, a bolt on suspension 185s in my neighbors garage. Some trikes in my garage and some in my basement as well as the kitchen and living room and in the back of my truck! LOL Let alone the Ascott 500/350x in Pa at a different house and a set of laydown 200x cases where the suspension 70 is plus parts scattered here and PA as well. It's a logistical nightmare. I think I even have a extended 200x rear axle in PA, but can't remember exactly! LOL Ask The Great Gazoo, he'll tell you. If you come into my house and open a box, it's hard to say what you'll find. Seriously.

I was looking through my old magazines today. Some are pretty tattered and torn, but well read. Anyways, my newest magazine is Feb. 84, and in there is a ad for the Nicholson 500, but the frame shown is still a 185s based frame. I'm trying to figure out the transition of the 2nd generation 200x based Nicholson 500.

That's a shame that I didn't know this when I was there. I would have enjoyed breaking bread with you. I didn't spend too much time in Nashville. After I arrived, I scored a hotel room, got up the next morning and had some continental breakfast, met motoman at Bass Pro Shop and I was back on the road again heading for home. Looking good,Pat! Was the front end made for that frame?

Vealmonkey
09-14-2011, 06:05 AM
The later generation of the nNicholson 500 was made to take the 200x parts, so, it's more like the frame was made for the front end. But from what I'm being told, when you ordered a frame from Nicholson, you could have it sort of custom built or built with features you wanted.

09-14-2011, 11:14 AM
No more room in the living room! LOL I really need to rearrange the garage some to make room to fit in there. Plus I've been looking to purchase a sea container for the backyard. Also the right rear tire/tube is shot so it's a pain to roll it around until I get a new tube.

What you need is some heavy duty shelving in the basement & you also need to let Evel Knievel go, He's taking up a lot of space.

09-16-2011, 10:44 PM
131829131830131831Gazoo stopped by for a few minutes after he was done from work. I installed a headllight I had on the shelf, but 2 of the bolt holes needed a little extra persuasion to be properly lined up. So Gazoo and I worked in unison and we got the headlight all nice and lined up and worked on arranging the cables a little better than they were. Progressing along nicely. Took 3 pics at dusk again. Thanks again Brian for the helping hand. My 85/86 Maier front fender came in today, but my grommet assemblies did not. So it may be another few days till I get a front fender installed. I have to work Saturday all day, so that day is shot and I will have a couple hours Sunday, so I'll try and get the front brake assembly on for the temporary. The rear brake master cylinder seems to be leaking, but I don't really like the sportbike rear master cylinder assembly, so I've been doing some shopping.

Vealmonkey
09-18-2011, 01:13 PM
You want me to send it up? Be careful what you wish for! LOL I have that engine in it's original bike frame now, but if you really want to put it back together as a trike, I'd let you. I've got an 81/82 atc250r front end for it as well instead of the Hi Performance front end as well as some nos front fork tubes. I guess I could just send you some money for parts and such for it. How far are you away time wise? You wouldn't kill me too much for labor would you? LOL I would let you ride one of the suspension 70s while doing it, but I would hate to see you loose a suspension 70!!!!! LOL

Vealmonkey
09-18-2011, 01:15 PM
Unless you think you can put the H2 750 engine in the High Performance frame? That's what I would really like to see happen. I need to get the new gears in that engine though. The h2 750 runs without a battery too, just a magneto.

Still in the truck! LOL I've been looking for an xr or xl500 engine that is running. I also took my template for the rear brake caliper mount to Mike at HRE. I made a mount, but I really wasn't happy with the quality of my worik and I fired myself. There are people who have all the right equipment and the experience to do a great job, and it's not me. So, I'd rather spend the money to get it done right.
