Nice! You can definitely tell it's age on those jumps though, doesn't take them very well at all.

I wouldn't say it's so much the age of the machine as much as it is that THAT bike was obviously pretty bone stock. I bet with minimal work on those forks and rear shock it would have handled the jumps much better. The suspension on the 400ex, and 450r are STILL based on the 250r three wheeler suspension, some would argue the rear suspension on the atc250r and trx250r are STILL better than the new "modern" quads.

It looked like he may have jumped that trike before! LOL Besides being bone stock, it's hard to say how tired that suspension was. Springs weaken with age, and fork oil gets old as well. Not too many people left them stock for very long. I can't wait till they do a US90. Without the US90, an atc250r would have been nothing!

Maybe the TRX but not the ATC, inverts are one of the first things people put on a real race ATC250R these days. The rear shock was great but not the fronts, at least for heavier riders anyway.

without a doubt when compared to the new Honda quads. i don't know the others. stock for stock the 250R is still the best for motion ratio and shaft travel. when using aftermarket parts they pretty much can all be made to the same. i just wish the sprocket location was a little lower on the 400X and 450R. that would lower the swingarm pivot just a little and would be much closer to the 250R.

The only thing I've done to the suspension was change the fork oil and I added a 3/8" 7/8 socket to each fork to compensate for spring sag, as we all know how weak springs get with age. It didn't get rode that much before I bought it and until this year I didn't ride it that much as well.

Nice! Loved seeing the big air! Didn't look like it hurt too much either...

I like the slow motion, show the rear plastics and how much they flex.

if he had not let off on the last jump i am pretty sure he would have been ok,,, the front went high he let off and when he hit down it threw him foward and the rest is history ,,, should have tapped the rear when he left the ground DOH!!!

If you listen closely on the video I killed the motor right off of the take-off. When I left the ramp it pitched my front end faster than I thought it would. My foot reacted faster than my hand and I didn't grab the clutch in time.
