so what you are saying is when you try and start it it just clicks? Have you done an amperage test on the battery, have you replaced the relay yet? Have you opened up the kill switch and cleaned the button connections? will the starter spin if it jumped from a car battery?

that was my next thought to open up the kill switch and cleaning the connections. the starter is good and the relay is new. i will check the battery to make sure its putting out enough power

I you just jump the 2 large terminals, you'll know if the solenoid is making the connection or not......
If it "clicks", the kill switch has nothing to do with it, 12V by a button or turn of a key seems to be getting there so now it's whether the starter is bad, the battery is bad, some connections aren't clean etc etc etc. Easy fix!!!!!

try and get an amperage tester, as you can have volts with no amperage, and fight with a bad battery for a long time before figuring it out. also if you have another solenoid might wanna give it a try with my 225 I never hear a clicking noise from mine I do hear a buzz when it is in gear and not running like a warning buzz. I had a bad rectifier, and never had an issue with my starter so you can rule that out

I ran a loader once where the ignition would allow voltage but no amperage, so that's why I say if it's not the solenoid it is an amperage problem possibly

maybe the buzzing noise is a better way to describe it. i do have a second rectifier that i could try using. and ive cleaned all the battery and ground connections which others should i look into?

checked the battery and it was only putting out about 8v so i hooked it back up to the charger and will check it later to c if it just needed more of a charge or if its not holding its volts. with the trickle charger hooked up everything works fine. so guess if the batt doesnt hold the volts i just need a new one

also the buzzing noise means that your neutral switch is not working right you might need a new one, clean the connection on it as it is exposed to all the elements.

where is my neutral switch located? i feel dumb but cant find it. but i did get it to start up today, i have to like shake it around while its chugging n it starts up. possibly because i didnt have enough gas in it tho. didnt stay idling for to long be4 she turned off. i do still need a new battery used the charger it start it up. i do want to clean up the neutral switch if i can find it. when i press the start button the light dims out is that how its suppose to be?

Hey mdwohleber56, i was just messing with my neutral switch because it would not start and i changed it out and now it just spins the starter free, they tell me now the starter clutch is bad but anyway the neutral switch is located on the side of the engine with the pull start. it is kind of behind the pull start and frame it has a light blue wire coming off it that plugs in and the other end has a Philips screw holding it in! When i took mine out it looked fine but i guess was bad, just looks like a little ball bearing type thing that pushes in and out--------- good luck!! ( i think the light dimming just means the batt is low??)

no, the manual says to drain the oil and disconnect the wire then unscrew the switch, don't forget to replace the gasket with it. And nyyamaha I have a starter clutch for sale let me go give it a look

so i can get her to start up but she not saying running. if i constently push on the gas it will stay running but wont just sit there and idle. also it doesnt seem to matter if i have the choke pulled up or not. been getting it to start without the choke pulled. i also think my engine is flooding spark plug is always wet. and my carb. will let gas out of the drain when im trying to start it which worries me. any ideas?
