My wife and in-laws are all p/o ed that I would even consider this tought. I grew up riding three wheelers along with anything and everything else from dirtbikes to oddeseys to 6 wheelers so I dont see anything wrong with him wanting to be cool like daddy. He drives his 50cc quad great and was thinking on a 110 or something along that line. He is 5 and very energetic so not afraid of going a little bigger but would love for it to have suspension. What do all of you think?

Ha ! Are you really asking people on 3ww if you should get your son a trike ?!!?

OF COURSE YOU SHOULD !!!

It is not the trike that is dangerous it is the rider. Just as a gun is not dangerous, it all depends who is handling the gun.

Teach your son the right way, safe way, to ride and instill it in him to wear it helmet, lean with the bike and life will be good and he will be cool like dad and the rest of 3ww

I would go with an ATC70. You can continue to hop it up as your boy grows, or you can have a fun daddy toy and get him something bigger down the line. I have 3 nieces and they all ride my Suzuki ALT50(s). They have never been hurt yet.

'83t3' has to pick his battles and know when to read the signs..if buying a trike for his kid is gonna earn him a month in the kennel!!

But then this isn't about what trike but should he/shouldn't he is it guys??

It's easier to ask forgiveness after than permission before. Or is it??

Im deffinatly gonna get him one but was wondering what is the smallest thing with suspension, Then Ill pass it down to my other son and upgrade for the oldest boy. The begging for forgiveness thing is all to familiar and permission is only if I plan on going some where for a period of time. Ha ha!

My kids all ride 3 wheelers, and have been scince they were real little. Some of the guys here have seen my son ride at St. Joes on the trails and he did good with all the adults. As long as they are taught proper and safe riding techniques, you wont have anything to worry about.

Get him a 70. He's small and young so he shouldn't really have a need for suspension... Not like he's going to be jumping the gaps, right?

Unless you build him a suspended 70 (a great but expensive plan), the next smallest suspended wheeler would be a 200x... way too big for a 5 year old.

My kid is 2 1/2 and he already has an atc70 and a crf50... Thinking of selling the crf to get my 1 y/o a 70 as well! DO IT!!!(your boy will thank you!) *piss on the inlaws opinions...*

What's more important, a month in the dog house, or a lifetime set of memories with your boy because daddy got him his first trike?

I'd also recommend a 70 or a 90 first.

That suspended 70 is what Id like to get him or build for him. He is already jumping and doing small hill climbs on his quad and it doesnt have suspension but my younger nephews does,so you know how it goes!
