Got a 81 110 for the best price, free! but it needs a rebuilt motor, new carb as this one is rusted shut, new seat and seat pan, and a tire. i'd rather just get it ridable at this point, then eventually make it pretty :naughty: so i guess the big question, any idea how much it would cost to make it runnable?

Also, is there a 125 engine that would fit in the frame? i would like to be able to keep up with my friend who has a 85 125 lol

$300 for the engine overhaul, I did my buddys ct110, seems like there is less parts out there for 110s vs 90s, maybe I was just looking in the wrong places, he opted for the OEM cyl from dratv and a oem piston kit. 15mm wrist pin in a 110

all depends if you are paying someone to overhaul it or if you are doing it yourself.

I could do either or, i will do the work on it mostly. As for an engine, i'd rather try and find one that is good than rebuild mine, but i suppose i am open to either.

If you rebuild your engine, you will know what you have in it. If you buy a good replacement engine, well, it could hand grenade the 2nd time you ride it. It will be used and you have no idea how the last owner or owners treated it. For a 110, you can purchase a 125 piston which is actually the last overbore on the 110 cylinder, so that's no biggie. Also you can purchase or make yourself a slightly custom exhaust and get yourself a really nice airfilter and install an aftermarket cam which will help pep up your performance a little which should help you keep up with your buddys 125. Just remember when freshening up your trike, do it right. Don't skimp on fixing the rear brake or your wheel bearings or rear chain as all those will affect how well your trike runs.

Sorry, been outa town for awhile, but will try and start on this. my one big question for the putting in a 125 piston, is what if the motor blew up or siezed again? i would need a new cylinder. I'm all for rebuilding it, i suppose i'd just need a walk through to make sure i don't mess anything up. and is it easy to find parts to rebuild this motor?

Honda made tons of 110s. Parts are pretty easy to find. A 125 is not a simple bolt in for a 110. The 125s had electric start for one and the wiring harness is alot different. Used 110 parts are pretty cheap. A 125 piston for a 110 can be had for as little as $10 bucks. A higher performance cam is a little more expensive and remember that you don't want a real radical cam. Heck, a cam out of a honda ct110 trail bike, would be considered a performance cam upgrade, since bike cams are in general a little more aggressive grind overall than an atc cam. The biggest pitfall of a stock 110, or atc90 for that matter is the stamped steel frame. Super inspect the frame for rust and cracks. I've seen those frames break and it can be ugly. You are talking about a 30 year old, thin, stamped piece of japanese sheet metal. You can still find aftermarket frames, but they will more than likely be used. There are lots of little tricks to make your 110 a better performer, but you don't want to get too crazy with the stock frame. I still have 90s and a 110, but they aren't stock. My CDI 110 engine is pretty much stock and it gets transferred between frames every now and again though. They can be fun machines, but just remeber, they are hardtail machines, for the most part and they do have their limitations. If you want something more performance oriented, there is always the 185s and 200s trikes.

is your motor seized?
rusted solid?
you could go as cheap as a set of rings and a hone for 10 bucks maybe, and a couple hrs work.
or rebuild the engine only to find out the gearbox is toasted.

I always go absolute minimum and make sure the other important stuff is ok
before throwing more $$ at them.
Heck, I usually run them with a lawnmower gas tank, and a throw pillow before I get too serious.

Just remember, if you patch stuff together "for now', by definition, is 7 years.

Yeah the motor is water siezed, rusted solid, no idea what shape the gear box is in. As far as prices for parts, that is very reassuring. i'm used to trying to find parts for my fl350 odyssey which is absoloutly crazy! but i need to go trough the trike. my friend isn't a crazy fast kind of guy, so i'm not looking for crazy fast out of a 110, but a little more power, i was even just thinking after market carb and exhaust sort of set up and leaving it at that. still wieghing my options at the moment.
The frame looks to be pretty good. Small rust spots from where some parts sat on it, but no rusting through or cracking.

if you are seriously interested in a 135 motor there was a post on here just a couple days ago that had a motor with wiring harness and cdi. I will go looking for the thread and see if I can find it for you was pretty cheap in my opinion

ok went and found the motor set on ebay for you now this is only if you are serious about a 125, will require some modding but is brand new for decent price http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-UP-LIFAN-125CC-Motor-Engine-XR50-CRF50-XR-50-70-SET-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1c0c45240fQQitemZ12046 4942095QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

powdiddy what parts do you have? and I didn't have my heart set on a 125 conversion, it would be cool though. its still an option, and that engine would be sweet. might be easier to rebuild what i've got, still wieghing options.

New idea, found another 110 in laramie (45ish minutes) from me, which the owner said would crank, but wouldn't start. i'm thinking that would be a good bike with my bike behind it as a parts bike. http://wyoming.craigslist.org/rvs/2552465223.html Any opinions?
