im pickin up an 85 250r from one of my neighbors, the motor is out of the frame, it lost spark he told me he picked up a new head for it( i went with him), i plan on getting it milled and O-ringed,i plan on getting it runnin again,i just haqve a few questions, what could causet to lose spark? Should i put a new piston in it or re ring the old one? should i replace the crank bearings? I was told its proted bored .60 over and the head was milled. and what would i be the cost of getting it running again?

I can't help you too much with the spark. Stator, coil, CDI, I dunno.

If the bore and piston measure up OK you can get away with doing just rings a lot of the time.

Crank bearings/seals are never a bad idea on a 25 year old machine. Do you know when they were done last?

Cost? There is no way to predict that.

i think i could gett it running for about a grand. im probly gonna replace all the bearings in the case and possible wrist pin.i might get a used stator off a running bike but im gointo diagnose the problem first

put trailprotrailpro pistin at top center and try seeing if the plug is fireing.if not change it and try the wire and coil.it might just be the plug

im going to go through the eletrical and the motor and i doo belive the crank bearings were done about 5 years ago, so im going to go through the case and if it needs bearings replaced then ill replace em. im going to hone the cylinder get the head o-ringed and get a new used stator also that was off a running bike
