I'm going through my tecate and the bearing spacer that goes between the axle bearings is mushroomed on each end. Can i buy one of these new? cut my own? Any help is appreciated.

I would probably just cut a piece of thinwall pipe from what I remember. Its pretty light weight and maybe an 1 1/2"? The bearings seat in the housing, so the pipe only helps support the inner races of bearings I believe.

the spacer has to be a certain length. too short and the bearings will wear out. when you tighten the axle nuts it puts pressure on the spacer and inner race of the bearings pulling them together. to short and it will put too much pressure pushing the inner races in causeing them to wear out real fast. too long and the bearings won't seat correctly.

they still may be availible new from kawie. not sure though.

Post some pictures, maybe it wasn't the oem one to begin with, Your carrier should have stopped the bearings from seating in too far.

I measured the spacer and its 5" which is the same as the distance between the two bearing seats. I measured it with a tape measure, i'll use a mic tomorrow to make sure. I guess as long as the spacer is the same length or slightly longer it will be ok? I'd appreciate a second opinion on the measurement ben, thanks

its 5" and a 32nd. I know its not much but that spacer spaces the the inner races and is very important to bearing life
