I found this fender listed as a NOS atc250 front fender for $39 shipped siting around some old cycle shop. I was positive it was for a 1980 atc185 and 81-83 atc200 non-sport models. When it came in I realized it was a Maier aftermarket fender. It looks like they used to make fenders for the early utility models some years ago. Now all they have is for the 84+ sport models.

Whats the difference with the ''utillity'' front fender and sport front fender? One has mud flap and other doesnt?

Both of these finders are for the same bike. The aftermarket maier just doesn't have the holes drilled yet. The 1980 185 and 81-83 200 were the same on a large frame,25" tires, with the two piece back fender and a big black trunk. The front suspension started with the 83 185s so from then on they bolted up different and was a slightly different style. I don't know if there is a difference between sport and non-sport models with the suspension. Basically sport just means it's a slightly smaller ,40lb lighter frame, with smaller 22" instead of 25" tires. I mentioned "utility" because the larger non-sport was designed more for a trailer hitch, and racks to work around the farm, yard, hunting, ect.

Maier only makes the fender for 83-84+ models that have the front suspension and 1 piece back fenders. Completely different. I don't like their new darker, shinier, red either. It looks like a set of fenders on one of those Chinese quads. Seems like it would be more brittle too. Maybe the company traded hands but they are using a different type of plastic.
