In need of something more than my 200x. I'm 6" talll and weigh 220lbs. Found this 84 250r on Craigslist. Guy said it runs great, good compression. Couple a pop rivets in the rear fenders. Headlight works, tail light does not. Has new rear tires with wheel spacers. Suspension rebounds nicely. $675 is his bottom dollar. From the pic looks like an aftermarket exhaust.

How would this bike perform trail riding ( 75 to 150 miles at a crack), I screw around at some moto cross tracks too, not scared of airing it up, and most importantly ice racing. I live on a lake, have about 25 more lakes within 25 miles of me. I'm hooked on ice racing. Sick of getting smoked by the bikes, my 200x just can't compete.

I really want a 350x or liquid 250r, but just cannot afford or find a decent one right now. So I'm considering this 84. It's a good 2 1/2 hour drive each way.

Also rear brakes don't work, said something on the rear brake caiper is cracked, so it sucks air. Front brakes work.

I have only had my 84r for a few months so I don't know what it will do on the ice but if it is jetted right and you run it all day. For the rear caiper you can use a front caiper off a 1st gen 200x or 2nd gen 250r

they are good trikes.Harder to find aftermarket parts then the 85/86 but can be found.FIrst thing i would do is get a bigger carb for it,and btw thats got a dg pipe on it.The one I had for a short while was a pos but ran (barely) and kept me riding while my z was down

I'm thinkin pretty hard on this. How good is the suspension? Say compared to a 1st gen 200x. Kinda wonderin how it'll do at the mx track:twisted:. I'm not too fond of the two cheesy front headlights, but if they work oh well.
I also remember something about the 2nd gen R and 1st gen 200x rear axles being interchangeable. True? I have a nice +6" Durablue on my 200x.
