bogging down 84 250r

I purchased this bike Sunday and it needs some tlc. It's punched 50 over stock and at half throttle it wants to bog down bad. The carb and jets are stock. Does this mean that it need more fuel and jetting. Also the mating surfaces between the header and exhaust flange leaks a little. I'm going to get the 86 carb and put on it but I'm wondering what is causing this with the stock carb. Any ideas.

First step would be to clean the carb. Also and does it have an aftermarket pipe?

The carb is spotless and its a factory exhaust but aftermarket silencer

Also where can I get an exhaust from aftermarket

What does the plug look like? If its black and wet try jetting down, if its white try jetting up.

I haven't rode it enough yet to check but ill hop on it after work and check what about an exhaust any ideas

So I got home and checked the reeds and they were fine. Got on the bike and rode it for about 10 minutes. Checked the spark plug and it was a little black but dry. Put it back in and rode it and it seemed to run a lot better. Until I looked down and noticed the choke was on. What the hell does the problem sound like to u guys?

Start with a new plug and fuel if you haven't already, and I would still go through the carb to eliminate any issues there before I started jetting

Will an 85 carbuerator work well with this bike

Yes, even on a bone stocker, although you will need to jet it also most likely. I would also increase the air supply with the larger carb

That's what I'm gonna do then I'm thinkin its a lack of fuel problem.

That may be true, but the stock carb can work correctly also with the correct jetting.
