I trying to put an electric start 200 style engine on my 200x but all I can find are the 200e engines with have the high-low sub transmission on it and will not fit at all. The starter hits the front frame bar but that I can make that work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

you mean like a 200 br with shaft drive? 1984?
I've never seen a br chain drive in person but it sounds interesting.

I DO have a 200 pull start in a 200x frame and there is tons of info
on those.

Isn't there a 200 engine with the electric start under the carb like the Lifan engine?

I Bought a parts 200x one time that had a chain drive 200 Big Red engine on it. The down tube on the frame was notched out and rewelded to clear the starter and there was some grinding cutting that was done on the left side chain adjustment/swingarm pivot bolt mount in order to clear the high/low gearbox.

To cool thanks, I will look at all the options. I was sad but now I love my 200x again... :) Looks like the cfr230 has a cable clutch and the lifan is an auto. I like the lifan, does anyone have one? Does it run good ect...

I've never seen an 'm' in person but aren't there a few
different electric start engines without the hi lo that would fit?

I love my auto 'x' by the way. Most people do.
Seems way lighter than an sx.

I like the Lifan idea, I think the charging system is better than the old Honda stuff. I have a 200e engine I was trying on the 200x. It looks like all the Lifan 200cc are shifted with a cable and I really want an auto.

So does anyone have 200cc Lifan that they run? Is it dependable and worth buying?

This is the one I have my eye one: http://www.tboltusa.com/store/lifan-200cc-ohc-p-228.html?osCsid=e7e0551cbe9f06c60bf1b6d2b663bb0f

So far my Honda 200s has NOT been reliable and needs work now. I have rode a Lifan power motorcycle ans it was very good and ran great. The Honda stuff is just hard to get Just rite and it hold up. Possibly the Lifan could be more reliable, blasphemy I know but still possibly true.

I thought there was a 230 that was a direct fit. Would like more info on the subject. Anyone have any? Tried doing a search on here and it didn't give me anything.

you wont be disapointed in the 230 engine if you can find one for a good price

Lifan makes a 230cc engine listed as a 250 I think. I wonder what size jets you would need.

I have an 84 x with a Loncin (same as Lifan) OHV 200cc engine in it. Same engine HarryRedTrike used.
It runs great. It will smoke my other 84x with a tired stock engine in it. I even run taller gears than the stocker because the Loncin will pull taller gears with no issues.

I don't ride a lot, but I flog the thing mercilessly when I do ride. It has a handfull of trail riding days and a 4day dune weekend on it with no issues. Starts easy. Runs both my 55w Hellas with no problem. I would buy one again in a heartbeat.

When I built this trike, it was going to be an Auto-X because I had a couple of 200 engines. They turned out to be not so fresh so then I wanted to use a CRF230 engine but they are expensive. I had no luck finding a cheap one. I got the Loncin from a near new dirt bike I paid $180 for (Craigslist).

I booger welded (because I don't have enough practice) brackets on the frame for a 400ex battery box and notched the tube under the engine to clear the drain plug. I used a $5 pit bike switch set for kill/start/lights switch and essentially made my own wire harness. I used a 350x brake pedal for the rear brakes. My X was well stripped when I got it.
