Tank decal is an '83. The rest of the trike I have no idea.

Is there anything specific to help identify besides the V.I.N which I am trying to search ? I'm not sure if its a parts bike or what. The owner claimed it was a "bored out" 185 but the code on the jug looks like its a 200 cylinder. The rear end has two different type hubs. He claimed it was an 85 but it can't be because it has no suspension.

He's right....its a mutt. It could be a 80' 185 (it has a trunk), plastics look painted over, 83' 185s gas tank. Tho has a 200 cyl.? Hard to tell at this point.

I'm rooting with 81 200, that's has other parts could be a 185, definitely not an 83 185's though El Camexican, has no suspension on front and has a trunk doesn't match up. check the backside and bottom of the cylinder if it says I think it's 182, then it's a 185, but if it says 193cm then it's a 200 but is definitely earlier than 83 model

I'm pretty sure the code on the bottom of the cylinder says 193. Is there a place to run the engine serial number to make sure its not a 200 top end on a 185 bottom end if that is even possible. It could be a complete motor swap. I am going to have to make sure it is the correct carb/jets for whatever it is.
I'm trying to figure out what frame it basically is so I can find a set of fenders. I am going to have to get the correct hubs and new rims also. It looks like someone drilled a hole in the rims for the tire tube stems. Are these supposed to be tubeless and what is that large nut in the middle of my axle?

I'm thinking its a large frame but have never had a small frame to compare to. Didn't they make a larger 185 for a couple years that wasn't an S model?

Enter the VIN here.

I tried running the VIN and it came up as an 80 or 83 ATC 200 UNKNOWN SPECIFIC MODEL or something like that. I tried it a few different ways because they are some confusing C's and 0's in a row with a few light or partial impression and there are 6 numbers at the end that looks like a different font. How many numbers are supposed to be in a vin? I took the black paint off but might need to remove the red paint to see clearer.

There are 17 total numbers and letters in the VIN.
If what looks like an R is actually a B you have Decoding Results: 1982 ATC 200
Engine # TB05E-210xxxx with 192cm on the cylinder

it is a 200 just like my wife's so enough about the 185 guys, simple fact I have one identical to his sitting in my drive way right now, however I have had to make some changes with mine, but the 185 bottom end and the 200 bottom end are practically identical so I wouldn't worry about that. It is a big version, everyone forgets the s in 185's stands for sport which means smaller tires, and they weren't built until 83 according to honda parts house. Please correct me if I am wrong about any of this mike as I know you know your business. Now on to the rear fenders, there are no aftermarkets for them but last I saw you could still get them from honda parts house. they are pricey but will be originals. From what I see your front rim and tire are the wrong size it should be 25" just like the back, which is why it is labeled a big 200, you should down load a manual for the trike from here, http://www.oscarmayer.net/atc/manuals/ there won't be the exact manual for it but if you download the 200's manual it will be almost identical to your trike, plastics fuel tank and tire size is the difference, motor, wiring, and everything else should be the same or withing closeness for you to figure it out. good luck with your project. What is the factory size tires for this trike? These Carlilse are probably whatever they had in stock at walmart or tractor supply.
Hondapartshouse.com said the fenders aren't available. Will the older non-sport 185 fenders that had a trunk fit also?

the tire size is 25-12-9. I just looked and I think you'll have better luck with 1984 200es fenders I have looked mine over between the two trikes and I am almost certain that it is a direct bolt on fit with little to no modification, just looked they are still available as well

I checked the tires and they are all 25-12-9. The front tire is just completely out of air after a few weeks. What is the factory brand and tread pattern?
I found a factory 82 atc200 non-s right rear fender so I will keep looking for the rest.
The gas tank could be an 83 185s but fits and I think it looks good. Is the 200 tank larger?

I honestly couldn't tell you the factory tread pattern, but I believe they were all ohitsu's. Tanks wise outer shape was just barely different, and cap size was smaller on the older 200, but otherwise they are an exact match up for mounting. Before I converted to a yamaha plastic tank on mine I was borrowing my friends 83 185's tank as mine was toast. I also change the front forks to a ytm 200 forks, as it is the same tire size. thank god I am a machinist, it was a little interesting modding it to work, but nothing I couldn't do again if I had the right equipment, now mine is all black which kinda looks nice.

There is a manual that covers the regular 200 on Mike's site.
